I was in Tempe last week for a conference / educational seminar and I can tell you that even though semester was done a few weeks prior and it was freaking 100 plus degrees.....the female scenary was beyond impressive! Very fun town and while we didn't go too crazy (many in the group were a little "seasoned" age-wise), a few places we enjoyed were Grilled Expedition, Casey Moores, and some really cool dualing piano bar. All-in-all, a great town indeed!
In terms of the wrestling situation, I was there Sunday night through last Thursday and any person asked that was aware of the cuts to wrestling were all truly disappointed. I asked many how often they went to home matches and a majority sheepishly acknowledged that they had never been. Curious if there are many who would go now that it has been reinstated??
I bought a couple ASU wrestling t-shirts for myself and family (along with a ASU stuffed bear for my 8 month old niece, a Sun
Devil doesn't send the greatest message to an infant/toddler) thinking the program was gone for good. Thank goodness that some influencial and financial people stepped up to save a much needed program. I for one am going to try to schedule some work trips down there during the season and bring some people to home matches to bring attention to the program....a little bit will hopefully help out in the long run.
