Undergraduate enrollment, according to a couple of year old US News rankings edition, is about 53% female.
So, if they are forced to get within the 1% variance that Maryland has to meet, the either have to add about 88 female athletes, or eliminate about 87 male athletes. Or some combination thereof.
I'm guessing the sacred mens sports at IU, other than football and basketball are swimming (a la Doc Counselman) and soccer, at least based on national reputation. Those four are about 220 of the 320 allowed if they have to hit the quota. Track lists 120 males total. |
