The problem is what schools at this stage of the game have any money?

Most good schools have already committed funds to incoming recruits and transfers. the timing of this announcement leaves these athletes not much in the way of options.

“With a dedicated effort to a successful 20-sport varsity program in mind,” says Love, “these three sports were selected with the following criteria: financial impact, potential competitive success, conference/regional support and gender equity. Our revenue trajectory has been positive, however, our ongoing financial challenges have been well documented by the media. The decision to discontinue sport programs is a last resort, yet necessary.”

This is a joke considering wrestling behind baseball was the schools most successful sports program.

Unbelievable.

Just 20 years ago they won a national championship.

The kids in Arizona will have to travel a long, long ways from home now just to wrestle in a DI program.

I'd like to think anyone with a scholarship has a decent shot at a lawsuit to retrieve at least equal to what they received last year in financial aid. Not that it replaces wrestling for them, but the school really screwed everyone pretty bad by waiting until the end of all signings and I think an arbitrator would see that.

All Those AThletes aren't stuck as far as paying for school goes-i dated a gymnast at IU for awhile and when she was injred they stil had to honor her scholarship and i imagine that will be the same case here -but these kids went there to wrestle and this late in the season I dubt anyone has any money to offer a kid . THIS SUCKS beyond belief -the AD should be flogged !! If they would have made the announcement 3 months ago you can bet people would be banging on Robles door . now he might have to sit out a year or pay his own way somewhere else .
