"I don't want to hear about how great the facilities are at Oregon. Although it is great for Dixon, it stinks for the 20 or so wrestlers who had their program dropped because the school wanted to add baseball. Cut down to 10 stainless steel massage tables, and keep wrestling!"
Jeff Hill, Petersburg, Ill.
It's just too bad opinions like this don't really matter to the AD there.

I say again ... a man with no degree should not be making decisions about the educational opportunites of athletes who will actually get their degree.
Pathetic.

Every other AD in the country has a degree (most have Master's Degrees). If you work in higher education it should be required you have at least a BA!

Gee, I wonder if he'll be on the dias later this month receiving an honorary degree.

The Oregon AD was asked about this in an interview. They brought up that every coaching job and most of the admin jobs in the athletic department required at least a bachelors. How could he and the university require it of all applicants for lower level jobs, when the AD himself doesn't have one?
He didn't have an answer for that.

He gave some lame response, but you could tell he was uncomfortable with the line of questioning.

A kid from my high school just got offered a scholarship to play baseball at Oregon.
I had to enlighten a few folks who were singing the praises of Knight and Nike.

And after the first year they are back, the honeymoon will be over, much like it was when they got cut in the first place.
