Your problem is that you are looking at results. If you want to know how good a coach is or his ability to motivate wrestlers, look how he acts in public, his quotes at press conferences, the intensity of his stare, if he goesg crazy on the bench during matches...that is what makes a good coach.

Conclusion: Tom Brands great, Cael unproven.

I think you guys are picking apart 1/8 of his post...anyways.

This will be the real test for Cael and his opportunity to shut people up. At ISU he really did inherit some very good wrestlers, that cannot be refuted. He did good things with them, damn near won a title when nobody thought they would be close.

At PSU he'll start with some good wrestlers, but far from anything that will resemble a national contender. We will see what he does with it, and i think he can make them a contender in about 2 years.

Terry Brands never won an NCAA team title as a coach, but Im almost positive(99.9%) that Hawkeye fans would swear that Terry is a GREAT coach. Maye you are on to the yelling/screaming/intimidating/gesturing from the bench thing... thats the measure of true coaching greatness, at least in Hawkeyeville

Terry has coached someone to an Olympic Gold medal.

Ok, well that's the case with every wrestler who ever experienced success. Obviously a lot of people contributed. If you can't concede that Brands did the majority of his coaching then i don't know what to tell you, but you need a reality check.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

Won't fill the seats? At Penn State?

Ask Henry who his coach was.

Slant it however you want Terry was Henry's coach.

And after the Alton boys verballed to Cael today, the Hawkeye Anti-Cael rhetoric has cranked up even a little further, not like that wasnt predictable or anything.

BTW, I never said Terry Brands wasnt responsible for coaching Cejudo, obviously he played a big part. But coaching one young man to greatness has very little to do with coaching an entire team of very different individuals to an NCAA team title. Terry Brands definitely has not proved he can do this. But in Hawkeyeburg, it probably has already happened in most peoples minds.

But he must be a way better coach than Cael, hes from IOWA for crying out loud, LOL
