Well, I can only address this speaking for my tournament - the Super 32 Challenge - Martin contacted me prior to the tournament to ask if he could come and cover it. So he had our permission to post the videos.

The copyright issue also leads to the question of the video section on this website, where we feature videos hosted on youtube for NCAAs, Olympics, and many other events. Should the video section of this site be discontinued?

*edit* just read this after I posted, I don't mean it to sound argumentative as it might. It's an honest question. Most of these videos on youtube are likely a copyright violation. The videos are not hosted by Wrestling Talk, but they are a prominent feature of this site.

I doubt he had the rights to the '72 Olympics

Right. Which was why I said I could only speak for my tourney

I also didn't have the rights to the 2008 NCAA videos but everyone sure did love me that weekend, didn't they?

Thanks for the info Stardust, good to know that...

Again, I have no dog in this fight and I could be WAY off in my assumptions. But it seems to me when he posts every match of a big dual or collegiate tourney (like Midlands, Big Tens or an OSU vs. ISU meet) that he can't possibly have the legal permissions of the NCAA, the conferences and the teams involved. Hopefully, like with Super 32, I am wrong about this...

And I'm sure high school tourneys are an entirely different animal than NCAA events. Additionally, with the Super 32, there is no governing body like USAW, AAU, etc. Our "governing body" is my website, NCMat.com (peace) and the only permission required comes from myself and the other tournament director. We appreciate any coverage we get.

Is this a private discussion - or can anyone join in? (Joking). Wrestling needs more resources and the people that are passionate enough to provide them. Conflict will inevitably develop among passionate individuals. Both of the individuals in question have been very gracious and helpful to me in a couple of minor efforts that I have tried to make as a fan. I just hope that this "spat" doesn't serve to drive fans away from either resource.
