This is for a project that I'm working on that I'm eventually going to bring to the board.

In order to do that though, I need to lose three great wrestlers off this list. I've got an idea on who I'm going to wind up dropping, but I'm interested in hearing from you all too.

Wouldn't you need to let us in on what the topic is?

I wouldn't take Johnny Thompson off your list unless you want some death threats from a certain poster!
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.

I assume you mean which 3 are not as good as the rest and post-college careers aren't a factor. Obviously a tough choice. I'd say for those with 10 or fewer losses (four of the nine), their record speaks for itself and they're in. No one has records like those without being very dominant.

Of the remaining five, Perry gets bonus pts for all his pins and for being so dominate at NCAAs this year so he's in. Hendricks gets the nod over Thompson because of his improvement over four years. So I'd leave off McCoy, Travis Lee (the wrestler), and Thompson.

p.s. I wrote this before I saw Gold's post and I see we agree on two of the three so that must count for something (the consensus factor).

I have to disagree with the notion that he gets preference just because he is so recent...

I actually agree with you. McCoy was great and all, but being at HWT isn't a plus for him. Lee was a bit inconsistent at the tourney. And Thompson would be a toss-up with Hendricks for me. Thompson had better overall placings, but missing the Finals his Senior year shows a slight regression, whereas JH made the Finals but lost as well...I'd probably say, upon further review, that JH goes off and JT stays on. So I say McCoy, Lee, and JT.

    Gold,

Typically, older wrestlers get the preferential treatment (I call it the "Golden Halo Effect", essentially we remember things from the past as being better then they were and better then the things we have now.) Perry has the second most pins on this list, and he's a 4 time Top 3 placer, 3 time Finalist, 2 time Champ. That can't be argued with.

I think getting rid of Lee has to be a no brainer here.

You may be right about the Golden Halo Effect, but as for the rest of his stats... 9 of the 10 wrestlers are 2 time champs... 6 of the 10 are 3 time finalists... and Perry has more losses than anyone else on the list. His resume is definitely impressive, but everyone on that list has damn impressive credentials... And I'm really not trying to bash anyone's opinion, just the act of blatantly giving him preference because he is around right now.
