Thread: 4X All American List

    Default 4X All American List

    http://www.intermatwrestle.com/college/fourtime.aspx

Pretty cool feature from Intermat today. Looking at the list, kind of strikes me as odd that no one made AA for the 4th time in the year 2000, nor did it occur in 1990.

2008: Coleman Scott, Eric Tannenbaum, Mark Perry, Phil Davis
2007: Sam Hazewinkel, Nick Simmons, Johny Hendricks, Ben Askren, Cole Konrad
2006: Teyon Ware, Dustin Manotti, Jake Rosholt, Steve Mocco
2005: Travis Lee, Jake Percival, Ryan Bertin
2004: Johnny Thompson, Tyrone Lewis, Damion Hahn, Tommy Rowlands
2003: Eric Larkin, Jared Lawrence, Luke Becker
2002: Stephen Abas, Bryan Snyder, Joe Heskett, Josh Koscheck, Cael Sanderson
2001: Eric Juergens, Michael Lightner, Donny Pritzlaff

Impressive names here, even more impressive are some of the names that didn't make it up here.

Next year it looks like theres going to be three guys with a shot to make the list. Unless I missed someone that is, then there could be more.

Dustin Manotti might be one of my faves on that list, because of the way he did it the year that he lost his first match and then came back to win 3rd.

    Oh, and that Askren fellow.

I could have sworn Greg Jones was a 4 timer.

Better take a gander at the bracket from KC again...

Schlatter, Gillespie, and Herbert are the three guys who have the shot at it next year.

2003 tournament as a sophomore in Kansas City. Lost first round to Ralph Everett of Hofstra via 3-2 tiebreaker. Won two matches and then was knocked out of the tournament by Rashad Evans of Michigan State 3-2.

Neither Everett or Evans made All American.

Have to add in there the caliber of guys he defeated. Alex Tirapelle, Trent Paulson, Alex Tirapelle. It was rather unbelievable.

Tony Hook who defeated Monotti 14-5(something like it anyway) first round, missed out on making All American in a heartbreaking last second loss to Trent Paulson.

Also interesing is that in 2007 two guys made 4 time AA, but no Championships: Haze () and Simmons. I don't think it happened in any of the other years you listed.
Jacob Schlottke---Gone too soon, and the world is a little less bright because of it. RIP, brother.

One, two, Evans is coming for you...

It happened to two guys in 97. Of course I obviously didn't go back that far.

97 was also the year that the most guys have ever done it, 6 guys got their 4th that year.

Mena, Kolat, McIlravy, Branch, John Kading, and Justin Harty. Mena and Harty both ended their careers titleless.
