Thanks -- I brought this to Adam's attention. He said he'll deal with it when he can, but basically that is the NCAA isn't understanding of raising money for cancer treatment, then f*ck them.

As a Cornell alumn and former athlete, I am pretty sure students have health insurance under an opt-in plan with the University.

I know this is a very serious issue. I think a charitable fund can be setup but it takes a little organization.

If someone is speaking to Adam, they should ask him if he would like this done and then visit an attorney. It does not take much time. I'm sure the donations would cover the attorney's cost.

Ultimately, if you do not do this, it will limit the volume of donations as people who do not know Adam will be suspect of sending large sums.

If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I know what it's like to be in a money crunch and the need for medical attention. All the help Kortney and I received was greatly appreciated and if I can return the favor to someone else in need I would love to help if I can.

I think its time to keep this top of mind again seeing as how fragile and day to day his situation is.

I have a personal reason now for continuing to push the fight against cancer. My mother told us all at home in Minnesota this year that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is our rock and our compass and now we need to be there for her. She and Adam remind me alot of each other with their strength and selfless attitude about their situations.

    Latest from Adam Frey:

    Goodday Everyone,

Well, I made the trip to Bethlehem, PA for the traditional holiday wrestling tournament. I always liked this tournament, called the Holiday Classic or the Hurricane Classic…it switches and I honestly don’t know what it is called, but it is quaint. It is also the one tournament that both my brother and I have won. In fact, no Frey has yet to lose a match here, and hopefully G wins tomorrow and carries on the tradition. Either way, it is run with ample breaks and a lot of down time which was always nice for me because I enjoyed the sleep. I hate tournaments that just seem to go and go and go where you never get a break from the gymnasium. Those feel like a grind. This one doesn’t feel so much like that.

The team went 28-1 on the day and put twelve of thirteen in the semi-finals. Things look good again and the boys are wrestling well. I got to see some old friends and tended the corner for a little while as well. My brother also captured his 100th career win which is an elite club in wrestling as many wrestlers already know. So, congratulations to him on being in the 100+ club.

I have been trying to not think about the cancer so much, but I am on my diet and now realize how much dairy is in everything and how annoying it is going to be to be on a diet. I am not complaining, but it is sort of funny how you begin to want only the things you are not able to have. I have been on a diet of some sort for like my whole life, so this can’t be too much different.

What is different is the location and time for me to put my mediport in. It has to be done at Sloan because Hillman will not take my insurance and we all know how those battles go. I’m on a rapid timetable, meaning I start chemo on the 8th, so I will probably be getting that put in a day before which is the 7th of January, one day after my birthday which is the 6th. Good thing I am having my birthday party on the 3rd. I would be infuriated if I missed another birthday due to annoying circumstances. I have been waiting a long time to have a birthday party. Of course, my great fortunes leave that birthday in the middle of wrestling season, so I am always cutting weight, not cutting loose…thank cancer for giving me a reason to celebrate-there is always a flipside to the coin it seems.

I still feel OK, maybe a bit run down from getting back to training. I am sore and tired and there is a lot of traveling, but that is the nature of my life, and many would agree it is one crazy life. I’m half crazy as it is though, so one would figure my life would follow such a pattern…as many of you out there probably recognize. If you don’t, I’ll drop the hint…I’m probably half nuts half the time, so 25% insane. I figure that is about an adequate hypothesis of my mental stability. It is what it is and my crazy life is something I wouldn’t want to totally change…minus the cancer. The cancer thing lost its luster about nine months ago when I started.

Well, other than meeting up with a cancer survivor and friend for dinner and swapping stories about our explorations throughout the chemical metamophis of hell, the day was wrestling, hanging out, and coaching. I guess it is a mundane life. I’ll put my workout schedule up here when I finally get all the puzzle pieces on it put together. I threw my hat into the ringer and I will be training for the Mr. Pittsburgh competition in May-ish, so I will be getting into shape with that and I plan on winning something…least that is my mindset.

    With that take care.

    God Bless,

    Adam Frey

    God bless this guy...

All the luck in the world to him, I feel terrible I'd almost forgotten about his whole situation. Thanks for bumping this up Gopher.

That's really great news. Both he and my mother are my inspirations to accomplish more with each day I am here.
