Thread: Metcalf slam in finals?

I am a Penn State fan who watched the match and rooted hard for Bubba. I didn't think it was a slam, and I am glad that it was not called. Metcalf deserved to win, he is probably the best pound for pound wrestler in the nation right now. I love Bubba, but if Bubba is going to beat Metcalf, I want it to be earned. Metcalf is the champ.

Congratulations to him and all the Hawkeyes.

Um last time i checked that match was the NCAA finals????? Let them wrestle a championship was one the lines, if Jenkins put himself into the position to be slammed he should have been!!!

I thought Hudson would do well and wish he'd had the 5th seed. I think he would have been the finalist vs. Davis fro the top bracket.

We all thought Letts would AA this year. He let an iffy call against Stolpinski get to him. I feel he should have won that match, but he didn't get it done.

Bell did a nice job with three wins in consolations and knocked two returning AAs out of the tournament. Letters was a first round surprise too.

I was hoping that Epperly's magic from the ACC tourney would carry over to the NCAAs. But the NCAAs is such a meat grinder.

Yeah, Epperly just needs to get better at getting out of bottom and he'll be ok. I fully expect him to be at a completely different level as a junior and senior.

It never occurred to me that someone would call that a slam........just tough, hard, aggressive wrestling.

I wondered about it, being relatively new to wrestling, so I asked John O'Connor, JP's dad if he dropped him a little hard, and he didn't think it was intentional either just hard Metcalf wrestling.
    See you in St. Louis!

Don't you mean Zadick, Schwab, Gable and Brands would have gone crazy had it happened to their guy?

    ???

Everyone else's take appears to have some logic attached to it. This one assumes that its Jenkin's own fault for getting slammed that hard? I just couldn't let that one go without trying to let the poster explain his position.

Was he supposed to throw the flying rear head-butt or start flailing his arms and legs like a maniac? I am confused how he could have been at fault.

I think any coach would go crazy about an illegal slam. Yeah, the Iowa boys are slightly animated but no coach would stand for a slam.
