Does anyone know if the talk about DCaldwell leaving NCState is true?
Some on the "other" site are saying he want's to play football & wrestle, and someone aint havin it??
Dunyasha Yetts (Ohio State) did it back in my days, took 3rd @142 and also was the starting DBack.
If true it will be interesting where he ends up.

Here's what I posted "over there" but most of the posters either can't, or won't, read. They continue to say the "university" is to blame. A new football coach isn't going to risk a scholarship in a highly competitive conference on a guy that hasn't played in 3 years but could eat up a scholarship.

"I'll try this again. Here are some facts, some of which are covered elsewhere.

    1. Chuck Amato wrestled when he was at NC State and let his football players wrestle.
    2. O'Brian is in his second year as football coach there.
    3. Ryan Goodman played safety and special teams for NCSU the past 2 years. However I see that he is NOT listed on the Spring roster. That indicates that O'Brian may want that scholarship for someone else.
    4. Since Goodman played football I suspect that Carter Jordan would allow Caldwell to do the same.
    5. However, if Caldwell made the team then football would have to cover a full ride. I suspect O'Brian is building his own team and couldn't care less if a guy is an all american wrestler. It appears that he may want to use Goodman's scholarship elsewhere too, unless Ryan is injured. I hope he plays, it's neat in this day and age for an athlete to do both."

I doubt he'd transfer. He didn't play football the past 2 years and didn't seem to have a problem with it, so why the beef now?
You do the math..... I'll do the alfredo!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Does this sound like a kid with a burning desire to play football ?

Don't think playing football is a factor. I think being near some of his friends from high school is a factor.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave, and I wouldn't think football would be much of a factor either.

Plus, if he came to Minnesota to play football, he would actually be too good and we would have to sit him for fear of improving our 1-11 season last year.

As far as guys "bumping up" weight classes, you can't really call it a "bump up" if you can't sustain your weight at the lower weight, that's just moving up a weight class.

"Bumping up" to get out of a weight class or in order to get a starting spot is totally different IMO.

I've obviously watched Caldwell a lot over the past two years. He is a good kid. You'll notice he applauds and congratulates those opponents who (rarely) beat him. No sulking or negative outbursts. I hope he stays at NC State, he's good for the ACC and the Wolfpack.
