I noticed that immediately after Scott pinned that guy from Iowa he bolted from the mat, looked like he was crying like a baby, and didn't shake hands or anything. ESPN conveniently ignored it. Why didn't they show it? Step up, you lose, be a man. I hope Brands gave him a whipping.

If he did, I'm sure that Brands will discuss this with him. Scott looked awesome, and had a great meet.

He actually did shake hands. Slaton, that is.

His name is Slaton but I didn't see that. I saw him get pinned and then I turned away and went back to my dinner.

He did. ESPN commented on it, and then mentioned his Carl Lewis esque sprint out of the arena.

I'm FAR from a Slaton fan, but I think the first post kind of goes over the top. Slaton has done several things this season worthy of being called out over, but I don't think last night was one of them.

I'm of the mind Scott pinned him quick because he didn't want Slaton to get the opportunity to try and throw him off the raised platform.

I was there. Brands did stare down Joey, while the whole stadium was in bedlam and Scott was running around the mat like he had just won a NCAA wrestling championship. At the time I thought, this is one mean coach. But then after a few seconds, I saw that he got Joey's attention and pointed to the center of the mat, where the referee was trying to get Scott's attention. Joey went over, shook hands like he meant it, and left the mat.
    See you in St. Louis!

Let's give the kid a break.

If you knew how many years of work it took to get Slaton to that point only to lose so quickly.

There would be something wrong with him if the wasn't emotional.

    Indeed.

Like I said, while I'm no fan of Slaton and some of his antics I have no wish to deal with a topic where he gets bashed, and then his supporters get angry and come back at those bashing him.

So, with the misunderstanding cleared up, and testimony from several people that he actually did shake hands I'm closing this thread.

Brands did damn near the same thing when Kelber upset him. (can't remember Terry or Tom?) It was also a cradle........
