Jaggers himself claimed that it was a high ankle sprain, but that he could feel it grinding and popping for a few seconds. He did not hold any ill will toward his opponent or blame the injury on him. Jaggers indicated that they were both trying to win.
If you watch a lot of scramble situations, like the one that they were in, wrestlers often will hold a leg AND a foot in order to prevent the opponent from turning to get andvantage. This is exactly what happened in this situation. Jagger's own body movement put additional stress on the joint to the point where it gave.
Fox claimed to have a broken nose from the incidental headbutt at heavyweight. That injury was as much due to the faulty headgear as anything.
Take a look at the photos of the top finishers at each weight class (DH provided some great photos) and most of them look like they have been through a meat grinder. Lots of scrapes, stitches, cuts, bruises, mat burns and black eyes. What a group of wrestling warriors!
