You have no idea about what goes into being a writer and what's part of the job if that's the opinion you have.

My picks at the World Championships in Baku were terrible ... my response? "Oh well"

So writers/wrestling analysts can never be wrong? But when they are, it's all well and good to try to throw them under the bus.

Where were your picks? Did you post them on any nationally-published panel like Rev did with their people or TheMat.com did with a lot of national folks?

    Typical internet blowhard.

Those picks weren't as ridiculous as picking Jaggers and Leen to win it all.
It is a completely unpredictable tournament and unless you are just picking seeds, you are going make a few way off picks.

And how absurd would you be if anyone would have correctly picked Dustin Schlatter to finish 7th?

Oh geez, a thread about me...

I only wish that my wrestler profiles and historical features for Rev got as much attention as one set of predictions.

For those who question my qualifications as a writer... I have been a professional writer for 28 years, as an advertising copywriter and corporate journalist (newsletters/magazines) for companies such as NCR, GM, Marriott, BFGoodrich Aerospace, Paramount Parks, along with various hospitals, colleges and universities, and foundations, to name a few.

My writing for the wrestling world incorporates my love of writing with my love of the sport. Trust me, I am not getting rich doing this.

And... I do this very much as an outsider. I bet I know only a handful of the posters on this group. My friends in the wrestling community are mostly legendary wrestlers and coaches, old-school guys that don't post here.

Before you judge my qualifications as a writer, you need to read a range of my articles for Rev in the past three seasons... and, before that, for Amateur Wrestling Photos.com. You can visit either website (www.RevWrestling.com, www.AmateurWrestlingPhotos.com), type in "Mark Palmer" and get a list of my wrestler profiles, articles and RevRewind historical features on legendary wrestlers and important events in the sport.

If you don't think I'm qualified, that's your business. I'll gladly hand over the projects I've got going right now, and say, "Here, you take the wheel." Then, I'll wait to see how you do... and, if I think you don't come up to my standards, I'll feel very comfortable riding you about it on this forum.

    Mark,

Don't let a few comments from the peanut gallery get you down. Some of the comments on this thread are way off base. Like I've said before in this thread pick are subjective anyway. Very few people if any could predict what was going to happen in this or any NCAA tournament.

Mark is a great writer and a great supporter of wrestling.
