    Default Tournament Scoring

    No, not looking for team scores, but the placement/advancement/bonus points. I know I've seen them before but I can't find them now. Help?

    I believe atleast:
    1 = 16
    2 = 12
    3 = 10
    4 = 8

    I guess it's an advancement question.

    Are the advancement points 2/1 or 1/0.5 for the front/back? I've heard it both ways.

    This is from the 2004 NCAA program that I have, not sure if it's changed

    Fall, Forfeit, Default, DQ = 2 bonus points
    Tech Fall = 1.5 bonus points
    Major Dec = 1 bonus point

    Advancement points:
    Championship: 1
    Consolation: 0.5

    Bye followed by a win:
    Championship: 1
    Consolation 0.5

    Placement Points: (for NCAA's where 8 places are scored)
    1st = 16
    2nd = 12
    3rd = 10
    4th = 9
    5th = 7
    6th = 6
    7th = 4
    8th = 3

    That's right except that a tech fall with no near-fall points is only worth 1 additional point (not 1.5). Also, the place points are added in as they're earned. So, for example, a quarter-finals winner get 6 points. Then when he wins the semis he gets another 6. And when he wins it all, he gets the last 4, which makes it a total of 14 points for 1st place. It makes sense to do it that way because otherwise we'd have totally lopsided team scores up until the end.

    D'oh! Of course, you're right! 6 + 6 + 4 = 16. Sure enough.

    Here's points broken down by session. These are placement plus advancement, no bonus.

    Thursday Morning
    First round win = 1
    Bye followed by first round win = 1

    Thursday Night
    Second round win = 1
    Consolation win (2 rounds) = 0.5; 0.5

    Friday morning
    Quarterfinal win = 7
    Consolation win (2 rounds) = 0.5; 0.5

    Friday night
    Semifinal win = 7
    Consolation win (2 rounds) = 3.5; 3.5

    Saturday morning
    Consolation win = 3.5
    Win 7th/5th/3rd place match = 1

    Saturday night
    Finals win = 4
    You do the math..... I'll do the alfredo!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
