Jaggers is not a surprise to me. I picked him to finish second. The big surprise for me is Minnesota not being right behind Iowa.

Not the biggest surprise, but a biggy. Mark McKnight, Penn State 125, came into the tournament with a 13-9 record on a wild card ticket to the show for his 8th place at the Big Tens.

Now he survives with at least a 5-6th place finish, maybe better.

Alot of people are giving DS a hard time and probably deservedly so but remember that he has lost a total of seven matches to some pretty good wrestlers in three years and has wrestled in arguably the most difficult weight class in the last two years.

Mark DiSalvo-AA
Gregor Gillespie-National Champion
Roberts-Not so great but everyone has an off day.
Palmer-2X AA
Metcalf-probable National Champ
Caldwell-AA
0'Conner-2X AA

The question is, does he have something in his bag of tricks for next year? Is he having a hard time making weight? Is he still injured? Will he finally change his game plan a little bit and mix in some offense? We will see. It is apparent that he has been scouted and as a result, he can be beaten.

The point is he seems to be going downhill. He was an exciting wrestler his freshman year, often wracking up points. Many people thought that Disalvo would be the answer to the trivia question - Who was the only wrestler to beat Schlatter? It shows me how hard it is to stay on top and keep on improving. As others have stated it makes Cael's accomplishments that much more impressive.

What if he still wrestled for his High School coach or a different program?
I would say he'd have better results!

I don't know about better results but you would think they would be reverse of 1st, 3rd, 7th.
