Yes, a Tar Heel is definitely a person. Although the actual mascot is a ram (Rameses). So, if you want to further categorize the schools that have their official mascot name as one thing, but their dressed-up-mascot as another, we fall into that. Like Georgia Tech -- Ramblin' Wreck..... Yellowjackets....
