    Default Rutger's Coach Retires

About time. I saw that his first AA was Tom Tanis in 2001, I do not think he had any after that. Not a good record.

Rutgers has made huge improvements in other sports (Football, Women's BBall) maybe wrestling is next.

...and they scalped this week by the NCAA for a half a scholarship - not good for a team that is not fully funded. Could it be coincidental that both announcements occurred on the same day?

If RU brings in the right coach....wrestling could quickly turn around with all of the talent crawling off the mat here. They won't get everyone, but they will get enough to threaten Penn, Lehigh and Cornell in the EIWA.

    RYOU,

You are kidding. Not unless Athletic department changes rules. When I was there, nobody outside the team members could ever come in to workout and the room was never open outside practice time. Room was never open for morning workouts. Open only 2 times per week in the off season. Too many rules at Rutgers.

That was a coaching rule not a department rule.

Anyone have any guesses on a possible successor?

I am telling you Rutgers Athletic Department is not interested in a hard core wrestling program.

Football and basketball yes, wrestling no.

I would not be surprised if Rick Romero becomes the next head coach. He was hired as assistant last year and Sacchi loved the guy.
