Some interesting names should pop up.

Any direction away from him would be a good one! Oops, did I type that out loud?
From the release: We believe our program can return to the top of the national standings, as well as the Pac-10 Conference, and that begins immediately as we start our search for Thom’s replacement.
Awwww, snap.
Pretty much had to happen at this point, ASU needed a change
Kevin Jackson anyone?

Let this be my request for: Head Coach Eric Larkin. Assistants Townsend Saunders and Aaron Simpson.
Or really, any order. They all would really be amazing head coaches. Saunders, Larkin and Simpson just seemed so much more in touch with the wrestlers (Homer would probably agree..) and would really be able to recruit the Midwest and East pretty well.
I think Simpson and Saunders would be more personable and easy to talk to, but Larkin would be more able to shape champions at the NCAA level- together the three would really forge a west coast power house. I don't know how much $$ is available and if they can pull these guys away from other jobs, but the little experience I had with them had me feeling like any of of them would be a great head coach at ASU.

I like Eric but he really doesn't have the demeanor to be a head coach at this point. He also has a big family that is his priority. Townsend is the absolute best (and should be paid as such) assistant coach possible, but his skills are on the mat as a hands on coach. Aaron is head coach material because he has the energy to put in the administrative hours, the fired up enthusiasm to recruit, and the experience to run the athletic side of the program, as well as still get on the mat and lay a little beat down.
I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.
