| 2nd Half Iowa State v. Hofstra 125: Tomasette maj Kist 4-0 Hofstra 133: Ruggirello dec Fanthorpe 7-0 Hofstra 141: Griffin dec Gallick 10-0 Hofstra 149: Mueller dec Smith 10-3 Hofstra 157: Sanderson maj Bowman 10-7 Hofstra 165: Reader maj Patrovich 11-10 Iowa State 174: Lucas dec Scott 13-11 Hofstra 184: Varner fall Danz 17-13 Iowa State 197: Rovelli dec Bertolino 17-16 Iowa State 285: Zabriskie tech Guerin 22-16 Iowa State Wound up a little closer than I would have originally thought just on paper. Iowa State has shots at 133, and 141 to make it an even bigger gap. Maybe Tomasette doesn't get bonus, maybe Lucas does. Michigan v. Northern Iowa 125: Flores dec Watts 3-0 UNI 133: Washington dec Diehl 6-0 UNI 141: Russell dec Ettleson 6-3 UNI 149: Churella maj Ettleson 7-6 Michigan 157: Marsh dec Beets 10-6 Michigan 165: Tannenbaum dec Fay 13-6 Michigan 174: Luke dec Dolly 16-6 Michigan 184: Todd maj O'Loughlin 20-6 Michigan 197: Biondo dec Anderson 23-6 Michigan 285: Bleske dec Bauman 26-6 Michigan UNI has shots here at 125, 133, 197, and 285. Michigan has shots there too. This one could be a close one, or it could be a whitewashing. Either way, Michigan's middle six carry them here. Missouri v. Indiana 125: Escobedo maj Pescaglia 4-0 Indiana 133: Hernandez dec McCormick 7-0 Indiana 141: Hoehn dec Warren 7-3 Indiana 149: Wagner maj Kinser 7-7 157: Becker dec Chandler 10-7 Indiana 165: Marable dec Coughlin 10-10 174: Perry dec Williamson 13-10 Indiana 184: Jordan dec Bennett 13-13 197: Askren fall Faggiano 19-13 Missouri 285: Ellis dec Kuhn 22-13 Missouri Another one with some good match ups. McCormick has been gone for while, and then almost got majored by Marble from Bucknell in his first go round back. Marable and Coughlin should be a good one, match up of two top 5 guys. Indiana would get a huge boost if Perry could throw whoever Missouri puts out at 174 for bonuses or the fall. That top end though for Missouri is just too good I think. Iowa v. Cornell 125: Falck maj Perelli 4-0 Iowa 133: Slaton dec Grey 7-0 Iowa 141: Leclere dec McGill 10-0 Iowa 149: Metcalf maj Frey 14-0 Iowa 157: Leen dec Morningstar 14-3 Iowa 165: Perry dec Lewnes 17-3 Iowa 174: Anceravage dec Borschel 17-6 Iowa 184: Keddy maj Moore 21-6 Iowa 197: Panasevich dec Loera 21-9 Iowa 285: Fields dec Hammond 24-9 Iowa A lot in this one probably depends on the health of the Cornell guys, they won't win, but if a lot of their guys are out this one could get ugly. Slaton v. Grey could go either way. I think Metcalf wears Frey out if he wrestles at 149, and gets the major, and Leclere might get him if Frey sucks down to 141. Perry v. Lewnes depends on which Perry shows up. Borschel might get Anceravage. Quarterfinals #1 Penn State v. ![]() | Brakets are now updated. No way Penn State gets past Minnesota to get to the finals. Looks like we should get a remach of Iowa/ISU in the bottom half of the bracket. | |||||||||||

![]() | I could see Perry having a big tournament. He tends to come back with fury after a loss. I am sure Brands was after him pretty hard about that loss.

| Moving onto the Quarters... Penn State v. Nebraska 125: Donahoe dec McKnight 3-0 Nebraska 133: Jordan dec Haas 6-0 Nebraska 141: Strayer maj Aleksanyan 6-4 Nebraska 149: Jenkins dec Burroughs 7-6 Penn State 157: Vallimont dec Oliver 10-6 Penn State 165: Dwyer dec Rella 10-9 Penn State 174: Browne dec Erwin 12-10 Nebraska 184: Jones dec Bomberger 15-10 Nebraska 197: Davis maj Brester 15-14 Nebraska 285: May dec Laboranti 19-14 Nebraska Someone is going to have to steal a win for the newly #1 Nittany Lions. One of the Dave's will probably be their best bet, but it certainly doesn't look promising for them. Jenkins v. Burroughs should be the match of the dual, and Burroughs is more than capable of beating him. Central Michigan v. Minnesota 125: Ness maj Smith 4-0 Minnesota 133: Reiter maj Beebe 8-0 Minnesota 141: Rivera maj Kruger 12-0 Minnesota 149: Schlatter dec Carter 15-0 Minnesota 157: Schlatter dec Brown 18-0 Minnesota 165: Glasser dec Stewart 21-0 Minnesota 174: Sinnott dec Dretsch 21-3 Minnesota 184: Kish dec Sinnott 24-3 Minnesota 197: Michalak maj Bronson 24-7 Minnesota 285: Gritter dec Nord/Berhow 24-10 Minnesota Another CMU dual, another win for Minnesota. That front five is just too good. 165 is a toss, and 184 might be since Kish has been gone a while, and Sinnott always wrestles him tough. Either way, Minnesota wins with their bonuses down low. Iowa State v. Michigan 125: Kist dec Watts 3-0 Iowa State 133: Fanthorpe maj Diehl 7-0 Iowa State 141: Russell dec Gallick 7-3 Iowa State 149: Churella dec Mueller 7-6 Iowa State 157: Sanderson dec Marsh 10-6 Iowa State 165: Tannenbaum dec Reader 10-9 Iowa State 174: Luke maj Scott 13-10 Michigan 184: Varner dec Todd 13-13 197: Bertolino dec Biondo 16-13 Iowa State 285: Zabriskie maj Bleske 20-13 Iowa State Iowa State wins regardless. Gallick is capable of knocking off Russell. More likely though might be Biondo beating Bertolino to make it 16-13 Michigan instead after 197. Zabriskie still wins with whatever they need at heavy Iowa v. Missouri 125: Falck dec Pescaglia 3-0 Iowa 133: Slaton dec McCormick 6-0 Iowa 141: Leclere dec Hoehn 9-0 Iowa 149: Metcalf dec Wagner 12-0 Iowa 157: Chandler dec Morningstar 12-3 Iowa 165: Perry dec Marable 15-3 Iowa 174: Borschel maj Williamson 19-3 Iowa 184: Jordan dec Keddy 19-6 Iowa 197: Askren fall Loera 19-12 Iowa 285: Fields dec Ellis 22-12 Iowa Iowa just has too much here. Jordan, Askren, and maybe Ellis if Fields is having a lazy day might make it close, but Iowa still wins Semi Finals #5 Minnesota v. Nebraska #2 Iowa v. #3 Iowa State | |||||||||||

Penn Vs Nebraska 125: Donahoe dec mcknight 3-0 Nebaska 133: Jorda dec Haas (md possible) 6-0 141: Strayer MD aleksyan 6-4 149: Burroughs dec jenkins (what a matchup!) 9-4 157: Vallimont dec Oliver (could go either way) 9-7 165: Dwyer dec Rella 12-7 174: Browne dec erwin 15-7 184: Jones dec bomberger 18-7 197: Davis MD brester 18-10 HVY: Laboranti dec may 18-13 A couple of matches could either way but I dont see penn state winning this, kind of bums me out that NE PSU and MN got put on the same side ofr the bracket, because both semis will be rematches now, I would have liked to see NE vs iowa or PSU vs ISU or something like that, teams that probably wont meet this season. Im sure it'll end up Iowa vs ISU in the semis and NE vs Minny.

| Steve Brown, and Grayson have been alternating in and out at 157, Grayson wrestled against Hofstra and Edinboro, so it may wind up being him. Semi's Minnesota v. Nebraska 125: Ness dec Donahoe 3-0 Minnesota 133: Reiter dec Jordan 6-0 Minnesota 141: Rivera maj Aleksanyan 10-0 Minnesota 149: Schlatter dec Burroughs 13-0 Minnesota 157: Schlatter dec Oliver 16-0 Minnesota 165: Glasser dec Dwyer 19-0 Minnesota 174: Browne dec Dretsch 19-3 Minnesota 184: Kish dec Jones 22-3 Minnesota 197: Brester dec Bronson 22-6 Minnesota 285: May dec Nord/Berhow 22-9 Minnesota Ness and Donahoe will be one of the best of the weekend. Ness is still 2-1 against him for their careers, and he's been absolutely on fire recently. Does Donahoe still have the mojo that he wrestled with at the All Star? We'll have to see. Mack has been wrestling great recently, I think he avoids the dumb early takedown he gave up last time and wins an easier decision. Manny will do what he does. Dustin and CP should take care of business. Glasser gift wrapped that match to Dwyer last time, I think he comes with things a little better together, or maybe J sends out Saf since Glasser has been out recently, and Saf beat Dwyer solidly last year. Browne will probably beat Dretsch, Kish will probably beat Jones. I didn't give Brester the bonus point because he wouldn't have gotten it last time if Bronson hadn't gotten stupid and gotten 5 pointed late. Heavys still aren't coming along quite as expected, and May is good. Iowa v. Iowa State 125: Falck maj Kist 4-0 Iowa 133: Slaton dec Fanthorpe 7-0 Iowa 141: Gallick dec Leclere 7-3 Iowa 149: Metcalf dec Mueller 10-3 Iowa 157: Sanderson dec Morningstar 10-6 Iowa 165: Perry dec Reader 13-6 Iowa 174: Borschel maj Scott 17-6 Iowa 184: Varner dec Keddy 17-9 Iowa 197: Bertolino maj Loera 17-13 Iowa 285: Zabriskie dec Fields 17-16 Iowa This is going to be a close one. I think Iowa wins regardless, though, as I've turned two bouts over to Iowa State from last time just on hunches, and Iowa still comes out the winner. They just have a little too much. Finals: Minnesota v. Iowa 3rd Place: Iowa State v. Nebraska | |||||||||||
