I think it's gonna be really interesting. This meet could be a nail biter but could also be a blowout if the majority of the swing matches go to one team. This is one of the best rivalries in the sport and this year will only continue that rivalry. I have to admit I think Iowa peeked a year earlier than a lot of folks would have thought and MN has underperformed a little bit.

I for one have NO idea but will say that Iowa is the favorite...I much prefer to have the Gophers as underdogs in this one.

After watching DS and Metcalf this weekend I would call that a dead heat.

I wonder how long people will continue to underestimate Slaton, LeClere, and Borschel. I made that mistake before the Iowa v ISU meet and thought ISU would win seven matches. I guess gopher fans will have to learn the same way. There is no way Slaton, LeClere, Metcalf, and Borschel all lose. Zero chance.

And I much prefer to have the Hawkeyes as underdogs. Minny must be riding really high right now, after dominating the Scuffle, even if The Golden Gopher lost. It's early in the year, and he can fix whatever went wrong. There's lots of time.

And I know you Gophs are certain that Ness, Reiter, Rivera, and the Schlatter Bros can't be beat. And why not? They have high rankings. They have distinguished records. They're probably so talented that they can just slack off a bit, and save it for the tournament in March.

I think Minny fans should just relax and enjoy the ride.

Despite grapplefan's transparent efforts to instill overconfidence, I think most Gopher fans are realistic about this team. This year's seniors are the vaunted recruiting class of five years ago, ranked No. 1 in the nation. And for the most part, it has failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed on it. A repeat national championship will be a struggle, and would be quite an accomplishment, given the inconsistency of its top wrestlers and the gaping holes at the upper weights. The Hawkeyes deserve to be favored.

LOL. I wouldn't use the word "transparent." I would say "blatant," and it may not take all that much effort.
Nevertheless, Iowa is a better dual team than tournament team at this point, which is something Goferphan pointed out weeks ago. Only Minny has that many wrestlers with proven AA ability. Minny deserves to be favored in St. Louis. Penn State and Central Michigan are also excellent dual teams, and the Cowboys will regroup.
