Default John Weakley

I just got done watching a recap of the Buckeyes on flo from their triangular. After watching this, and a few other of his matches, I was curious to know if John reminds anyone else of Kevin Randleman.

They seem to have the same physical build( I know in College Randleman was a lot lighter, but now they appear to be similar). I don't know a lot about Kevin but judging from what I have seem of hiim in MMA, he appears to be a thrower which is how I would describe Weakley.

What was Randleman's style like in College, does anyone else think they are similar, and does anybody else think that Weakly will experience the same ammount of success that Kevin had?

Thanks,

Mike

Kevin wasn't too much of a thrower, unless you consider the world's most wicked double leg to be a throw, which at times it did. Randleman was a freakish athlete and a phenomenal wrestler in college. Although they are both built like statues I don't see Weakley achieving half of what Randleman did.

Thanks RD,

I don't know a whole lot about Randleman. I'm a casual Ohio State observer and I know Randleman was a supreme athlete, but the only real knowledge I have of him is from Pride fighting.

I wasn't sure if he was a thrower or not, but I did know about his double leg. It is certainly to early to make comparisons for John Weakly, he is only a true frosh. I was just looking to hopefully expand my knowledge of randleman and I also like to make comparisons (not who would win if the wrestled head to head, era to era). Maybe comparisons isn't the right word, observatiosn on style based upon strategy and body type.

Yes, Randleman was a 2x champ and runner up. Don't remember the exact year(early 90's), but I do recall the roof of Carver getting blown off when Reiland won his title in fasion by sticking this monster of a man.

Randleman(SR year) got into some issues at OSU and then enrolled at Findlay but something happened with that also.

John Weakley's bread and butter move every time I have seen him has been a (very) blast double.

The transition to Div 1 figured to be a tough one for the true freshman, especially trying to execute the blast with the same level of success. Many thought he would redshirt. We watch his progress with great initerest, as well as the new addition to the lineup, back from injury, true fosh Colt Sponseller.

I remember Randleman winning in the finals with a dislocated jaw. Unbelievable toughness.

Off topic, but Weakley has to be one of the worst names ever for a wrestler
