125- Ness (Very possibly Escobedo...but I think Ness closes the gap..not that there was a whole lot of gap)
133- Too close to call, but I'll say Gomez puts together a great tournament (I would pick Kennedy, but I'm not confident that the Illini won't choke, but they do usually wrestle well at the B10. I'd rather pick Reiter but I don't want to be accused of being a rediculous homer)
141-
Kyle Ruschell I think he makes a lot of noise(this is my upset special). If Lang comes down, then its his. I also really like
Kellen Russell but we'll see. Also Manny but he hasn't put it together at the end of the year yet and this weight is tough.
149- Weight of the tourney....Have to go with DS until something silly happens. This will be interesting to see how Jenkins does. I would love to be a fly on the wall during the seeding meeting for this weight. Strange things will happen here.
157- The only Illini wrestler that doesn't choke,
Mike Poeta. CP likes to wrestle well at this tournament though and it is at home.
165- Hometown favorite, (well from my hometown) Tannenbaum. He gets a handle on Perry's shennanigans
174- Have to go with
Steve Luke.
184- I like Kish but I'ma gopher fan. It could get very ugly if he ends up with the number one seed and Pucillo and Todd have to duke it out in the semis. I just don't see either one of them figuring out Kish. Stranger things have happened though.
197- Phil Davis. The interesting match is the semis with Herbst and Tamillow. Davis is jut too much for any of them.
285- Bergman vs. Fox with Fox in a squaker. Fox is too big to get thrown and he does well against undersized heavys. Fields might beat Bergman, but he doesn't beat Fox.
With the talent that they have coupled with Home Field advantage, look for the Gophers to bring the title home. I think Iowa is the next best tournament team followed by Michigan. These three of those teams could flip flop and probably will throughout the two days of competition.
Have to give it to MN though at Home. I'm sure at least 4 other teams will have something to say about that though.
