I've got to agree with my girl Fan, it's very early. My beloved Tigers were extremely hot at this time last year, they won the Scuffle, etc., and then they ended up in third place and didn't win the Big 12. Now, I was ecstatic with third, don't get me wrong, but I'm just sayin', it's early.

Parity is one of the benefits of Title IX generated limitations on scholarships to 9.9.

As for Central Michigan....Borelli is the equalizer.

I think what we're starting to see is that no one team is going to simply dominate every year. Their will be certain occasions, but no more dynasties of 3-10yrs anymore.

This is good for wrestling, as we need more success outside of the Midwest in order for our sport to take notice elsewhere.

Wow, parity in college wrestling, who would of thunk it. I still see the usual suspects doing their thing. OKSU, Iowa, ISU, and Minny. Every once in a while a PSU, or an ASU type thing might happen, but the top 4-5 will always be there. (My opinion)

You can talk about scholarships all you want but I think it has as much to do with who they are getting to walk-on and perform as who is getting the scholarships. I also think you are seeing some of the best coaching going on at these uppler echelon teams although I would throw Missouri and Central Michigan into that mix as well.

    Thats how I see it.

I'd agree. The recruitment and development of decent walk-ons is going to be even more important with only 9.9 scholarships. Schools from states with strong HS wrestling have an advantage.

Look for the leading academic institutions to gain as well. Last week, Harvard announced that ALL students from families making less than $180,000 year will be eligible for need-based financial aid without loans involved. And students from families making less than $60,000 year will pay nothing. Getting in is tough, but if you're already a good student also and a state HS wrestling champ, I'll bet that getting in is just a bit easier.

Thanks Blue! Honestly most of these teams might not have truly peaked just yet. Once they hit February and March it could be another story.

The ivies are taking notice of the money to be made in sports now, as well as academics.
