Nothing but the truth Ryou. Gage didn't put Cornell College in the title #10 ranked D3 school.

Here's what impressed me about Cornell (admittedly I'm a fan of theirs) - Coach Duroe wanted the Rams to press the action and part of why they got beat so badly is that they wouldn't run away and hide. It frequently reminded me of the fight scene in "Cool Hand Luke". A couple of times I just wanted to say, "stay down" - but they wouldn't. On paper, I thought that the 125 pound match might be a contest - Heilman is the #2 rated guy in DIII, but Charlie handled him pretty easily. However, Heilman kept coming and kept trying to score. |

Props to Cornell for being willing to take on the big boys. Despite the beating it has to be a great experience for them to have wrestled the #1 team in the country and to get a taste of big time collegiate athletics. |

| National Finalist | Cornell College is a private institution and I believe may actually be the older of the 2 schools. It's certainly the one of the 2 that has one the DI national championship (1947). They have a unique academic approach in that the students only take 1 course at a time. They are intensely immersed in that subject for a few weeks and then move on to the next one. They also highly encourage overseas study. My daughter (an alum) was an intern in the Northern Ireland legislature. Something like 60% of Cornell's students participate in DIII athletics. Here's the real irony - One of Bill Koll's (Rob's dad) early coaching jobs was at Cornell College. Kinda more than you wanted to know - huh? |
