HIs Dad sounds very supportive of him and indicates that it's pretty much a done deal. He's going to transfer someplace less expensive to go to school since he's giving up his scholarship.

Thus, change of mind is pretty remote.

That being said, one of teh Banach.....the HWT....quit the Iowa team for a whole year but Gable stayed in touch with him and he came back.

Minnesota has a pretty healthy stable of Heavyweights with Nord, Berhow and now Atticus Disney on his way but it might be wise for someone to at least call the kid and see if he would consider Minnesota.

TLV brings up a great point. This kind of thing does happen.

I think the kid is a little burnt out. I do think that after a year of being just "another guy", he'll realize that its special to have the capabilities and opportunity of being an elite wrestler.

Sometimes it takes being away from it to realize what you have.

I think that it's always important to remember that though they are able to perform at an elite athletic level, the college wrestlers that we follow are just college kids. When I was 17, I had made the decision to go to the Missouri School of Journalism and become a sportscaster. When I got to Mizzou, I figured out that the TV journalism world was not for me. I don't think that anybody could be upset with Cody Gardner for making a similar decision.
