 |  The Southern Scuffle - who is going?
I know it's still a long ways off (Dec. 29th and Dec. 30th) but I'm wondering who each team will be taking to the Southern Scuffle. I'm told that each team that attends the Southern Scuffle is allowed to take a maximum of 15 competitors and I'm also told that redshirts ARE allowed to compete. With that in mind it looks like Boise State will be taking the following (and one more guy who has yet to be determined): ================================ 125 lbs. Alan Bartelli - True Freshman (6-3 this season at 125 lbs) ================================ 133 lbs. Cory Fish - Junior (11-4 this season at 133 lbs.) 133 lbs. Andrew Hochstrasser - Sophomore (10-0 this season at 133 lbs) =============================== 141 lbs. Levi Jones - Sophomore (8-6 this season at 141 lbs) 141 lbs. Winner of wrestle-off between Cam Jones - Junior and Eli Hutchison - RS Freshman ================================ 149 lbs. Adam Hall - RS Freshman (14-3 this season at 149 lbs) ================================ 157 lbs. Tyler Sherfey - Junior (14-4 this season at 157 lbs) ================================ 165 lbs. Kurt Swartz - RS Freshman (11-4 this season at 165 lbs) 165 lbs. Jonathan Nunez - Senior (3-2 this season at 165 lbs) if he's healthy by then. ================================ 174 lbs. Nathan Lee - Sophomore ================================ 184 lbs. Matt Casperson - Sophomore (9-5 this season at 184 lbs) 184 lbs. Kirk Smith - True Freshman (7-1 this season at 184 lbs) ================================ 197 lbs. Ryan Allen - Sophomore (4-6 this season at 197 lbs) ================================ 285 lbs. Nick Smith - Junior (7-3 this season at 285 lbs) ================================ The 15th competitor for Boise State will likely be one of the following: A. Joshua Baker - True Freshman (5-2 this season at 125 lbs) B. Wesley Cooper - RS Freshman - 197 lbs (2-2 this season at 197 lbs) C. Sam Zylstra - RS Freshman - 285 lbs (3-4 this season at 285 lbs) |

I'd love to see Hochstrasser vs Reiter. Kirk White has been telling me that Hochstrasser is looking really tough. I know he won the best of the west tourney last month. Bronco, do you know if he's wrestled is any other open tourneys and if so, how he faired? I assume he has wrestled at a couple tournaments if his record is 10-0 this season. | |

Hochstrasser won both the Cowboy Open tournament (first tournament of the year) and the Best of the West. He is being redshirted this season because that was the plan from day one - he competed as a true freshman - then went on his 2 year LDS church mission with the express purpose of redshirting when he returned. That is precisely what he is doing this year. He should be a force at 133 lbs next season tho. |
