Thread: Lehigh :(

    Default Lehigh :(

Lehigh is hurting and I don't feel very badly for them.

I find it intersting that three western PA wrestlers (Bell, Letters, McKnight) recently beat their Lehigh oppenents.

I wonder if Lehigh attempted to recriut any of these kids?

Can't help but think they recruited at least one of the trio.

There is a Letters wrestling for Maryland who is Troy's cousin. I do not think he was a top recruit from HS. Lehigh has to be limited in who they can recruit with only some much money to hand out and a private tution for any walk-on to deal with. They also pride themselves on their high academics standards. In reality, it is surprising that they competed as well as they did for so many years. I think the emergence of the Ivies as top wrestling schools has hurt them.

Bell signed in the early signing period, as did Letters. Letters has improved tremendously now that he's in a wrestling room with strong competition.

What I'm getting at is that it's my opinion that Lehigh does a poor job recruiting beyond the Lehigh Valley and NJ.

I get the impression that they favor kids from the east.

They got Craig from FL and they have done a decent job getting kids from their local area, arguably the best area in the country. A lot teams can't even lock up the best kids in their area.
The more legitimate criticism is that they have not developed their recruits, which seems true recently. Getting Craig as the #1 recruit in the country is a double-edged sword. It is also impossible to meet expectations.
