Thread: 43-2

    Default 43-2

    Minnesota's combined records at 125-157.

    Ness 11-0
    Reiter 4-1
    Manny 12-0
    DS 9-0
    CP30 8-1

Only losses coming to Fanthorpe and Cyler Sanderson. Curse those Cyclones!

Glasser still holding tough at 10-4 with some tough matches, Dretsch at 10-2 and Kish at 6-1.

I think the Gophers will be okay if they get steady improvement at 165, 197 and Heavy through the end of the year.

    Forget 197 & Hvy.
If Rieter returns to form and Glasser shows improvement then they should be OK.

I think 197 is a lost cause until we get yohn or geiger into the lineup, I look for major strides from 165 and HVY this year.

I think the Gophers will be a very dangerous team for National Duals this January. The Clones did them a favor by eliminating the early season perfection jitters, kind of like Michigan losing to Maryland at the NE duals, and then coming on.

Jan 26th through Feb 8th duals (@Mich, Iowa, @Okla State, @Northwestern) will tell us a lot about the Gophers.

Michigan will be an easy matchup for the gophers, Iowa and OKie state will both be excellent althoug niether is favored on paper (at this point at least).

Northwestern like michigan is a tournament team and will lose badly to minnesota.

What I most look forward to is a possible rematch with ISU/nebraska at national duals

It would be great to get both ISU AND Nebraska. I think the dual for the finals if its ISU and Minny would be a barn burner. Much closer than the 18-13 last time.

I think both teams would work hard to keep some of their guys fresh for that finals match and you would see some creative substituting in the first and second rounds.

I think Natty Duals is my favorite event with only NCAA's above that.

    Now it's:

    Ness 13-0
    Reiter 6-1
    Manny 12-1
    DS 9-0 (still)
    CP 8-2

Not what I would have expected out of two matches against less than steller opposition. At least Manny got beat by a ranked wrestler albeit stuck in front of friends and family.

Gophs need to light a fire!!!

1st ranked opponent Manny wrestles this year and he goes down? Again...not sold, even at 13-1.
CP gets taken out by #20?
They both should drop out of top 10 next week...IMO.

I can't argue with C.P. dropping pretty solidly after that performance...again its been said but his style lends him susceptible to these types of losses...I would be okay with that if he was getting bonus points on the other side but if he's not and he's not placing at NCAA's every year then he is a mediocre dual teammate...Saf is not as good as C.P. but knowing he can make the cut makes it interesting to see if he plans on going out and fighting for a spot versus Scotty or C.P. for mat time.

Manny got caught, what can you say. That think was locked up tight and once Mendes got it, Manny had no chance. I don't think anyone is trying to "sell" Manny as he is certainly not on the scene...I think he is in the mix for an AA and he generally beats who he should and loses to those that he should. He is about as consistent a wrestler as we have in the line-up besides Ness, Dustin and Kish.
