Thread: Is Reiter past his peak? Do Gofs have a weak spot at 133?

Will Reiter recapture the form he had two years ago? I'm just not seeing the Attack Mack of yore. Last year he was working on grit and gristle when he came back from season-long injury in March to help the Gophers scrape a few more points at the Big 10s and NCAAs. No one expected him to be 100 percent, but even with an injured leg he was an asset.

So far this season I haven't seen the stuff that made him one of my favorite wrestlers two years ago. I don't think it is a matter of losing a step due to the knee injury as that shouldn't slow him down on the top position where he used to be dominant.

Reiter has always been a wrestler who LOSES big important matches and he always will. He will always be a good wrestler but will never be able to win it all or pull single handedly help you win a dual.

Mark Jayne of Illinois begs to differ.

Yes. Reiter is past his prime.

I hear a lot of people talk about how he is still nursing an injury....but that is exactly what that is....the boy is unfortunately damaged and has lost that spark he had his freshman and sophomore years.

Reiter will be fine. Dude has never really been what you call dynamite off the bottom, and thats probably been his biggest problem thus far this year.

Once the year moves along and he gets his weight right, and his wind good and up, he'll be right there with his nose in it at the end just like he has been the last three years.

It aint how you start, its how you finish.

I agree Mack just needs to get his weight under control. In the first period Mack looked great, in deep on shots and then he gased. I think his gassing has a lot to do with his weight cutting. Give him a few more matches and you'll hopfully see the Mack were used to.

Agreed...I wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the Big Ten at that weight come Big Tens...

I would say yes to question one, he is past his peak. Having a major injury like Mac had is very difficult to come back from (as much mental as physical).
Question 2. No, they don't have a week spot @ 33 but against top 10 competion it will be a toss up each time out.
