Rochester, MINN. - The University of Northern Colorado wrestling team lost all three duals at today's Northern Quadrangular, hosted by the top-ranked University of Minnesota in Rochester.

Senior heavyweight Reece Hopkin, who is ranked 17th this week, won all three of his bouts, two by pins and one by a major decision to improve his season record to 11-1. Sophomore 125-pounder Tony Mustari and 165-pounder Devan Lewis both went 2-1 on the day with victories over North Dakota State and Northern Illinois. Junior 133-pounder Blayze Bahe was the only other Bear to notch a victory during the three duals, defeating Minnesota's Jake Mellmer 4-2.

The day began against Western Wrestling Conference foe North Dakota State, which the Bison won 23-16. Mustari and Hopkin both recorded pins over Andy Hackenmueller and Justin LaGosh, respectively, while Lewis tallied a major decision, 13-0 over Mike Quamme, but it was not quite enough in the morning dual.

In round two at noon against top-ranked Minnesota, the Bears fell 29-9. Hopkin pinned Joe Nord in 6:50 and Bahe recorded the 4-2 decision over Mellmer for the Bears' two weight-class victories.

In the 2:00 matchup against Northern Illinois the Bears fell 29-5. Hopkin recorded a 10-0 major victory over David Benner, while Mustari defeated TJ Wunnicke 4-2 and Lewis won a 9-4 decision over Bryan Deutsch.

Next week, the Bears head to Las Vegas to compete in the prestigious Cliff Keen Invitational, which will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center all day Friday and Saturday.

He was never in any dnager in any of his matches. one might be able to argue that he faced som severely undermatched competition. He looked almost bored.

I think its interesting that we can be upset with a freshman who is making fresshman mistakes because we are so spoiled after watching the biggest surprise in college wrestling dominante for the last four years.
