Default KAufman Brand Videos: Gophers

If anyone is interested a few matches from the kaufman brand are up a few thoughts I had (I've only watched the first set)

Is dretsch majoring in body building? The kid has always been strong but he looked absolutely enormous and bulky in the match I saw I didnt even recognize him but the camera people kept saying his name, he looked bigger last year then in 2005-6 and even more massive this year. He also looked pretty lethargic and lacking in energy despite obviously being the superior and much more physically strong wrestler. I was not impressed by him at all.

Malumura looked like pretty much the same old Yura, he seems to have absolutely no defense on his feet as the guy he was wrestling was pretty bad and got in on his legs at least once with no real effort. He has no future at this weight

Bronson looks much improved this year, wadzuiless is obviously not in any kind of contention for a starting spot but from what I hear hes a great guy and it was nice to see him get a match.

Thorn looked pretty good but like yura seemed to have absolutely no defense on his feet, he looked pretty flat footed too the other guy got in on his legs and thorn just toppled. Thorn is much faster then I thought he was and I think by next year he will be ready to start and possibly contend for AA honors. Thorn looked pretty good off the bottom also, very active and just the way he wrestles he has the right attitude and tries to score Im looking forward to seeing more of him

C.P. looked amazing! Granted he wasnt wrestling a top 20 guy or anything but I was blown away by how explosive and fast he looked in addition to being as strong as ever, although his opponents length gave him some trouble. He has his head shaved too and for the first few minutes of the match I was thinking "Wow since when is Dustin that thick?", yes he really looked that fast watch the match and tell me I'm wrong. I've heard from people at the quad that C.P. and other places that CP is looking incredible this year and Im really looking forward to seeing him wrestle sanderson next weekend.

Glasser looked solid not a world beater but good and I think he will only get better over time, 165 is a weight where we will probably be improved this year over last year.

Well, at least we agreed on CP. I thought Glasser looked really good today in Rochester. He'll only get better with age.

I think Dretch has always looked a bit sluggish. but he has certainly got much bigger this year.

so its not just me? I mean from the match I saw he looked like he added 20 pounds of muscle in the off-season (I'm sure thats not accurate but It seems like a DRAMATIC difference).

Dretch looked noticably huge in person. last year I thought he looked lean for 174. Today he looked like he would be cutting hard to make it. well, maybe not hard, but he was pretty big in comparison.

Hopefully the extra muscle will be the difference maker in some of his matches. Kid has talent but seems to get up for big matches and down for the others. He definately seems to wrestle to the level of his competition.

I think his cutting is part of his up and down performance...The kid has been at this weight since his freshman year so it could be catching up to him...It might be smart at National Duals to send Kish up to 197 and let Dretsch have a few matches at 184 with Sitch taking a match at 174 if necessary...in the right dual meet, that could really make a difference. From what I have seen at 197, I would take my chances with Sitch at 174 and sending everyone up a weight if was apparent we were going to need some points or to avoid giving up some points at 197...

Only match I've watched so far is CP, and you're right, he did look very good. Good motion, controlled the ties like he needed to, and didn't let the guy pull the Jake Patacsil "cling to a wrist for dear life on the feet" defense.
