Thread: Minnesota vs Iowa--Who do you like?

Default Minnesota vs Iowa--Who do you like?

OK--enough of the "old-time" posters want to see this board continue. How about we come out with some predictions (despite what Gold says that no one looks at them). Iowa has the privilege this year of hosting all 3 big duals: OSU, Minn, PSU. For what it's worth here are my predictions:

125 Gilman MD over Brancale/Kingsley Could be worse, but Gilman's offense hasn't been that strong lately 4-0 Iowa
133 Ramos Dec Thorn I think Thorn's too tough to give up MD 7-0 Iowa
141 Dardanes Dec Dziewa (this assumes Dardanes wrestles) 7-3 Iowa
149 Dardanes Dec Grothus 7-6 Iowa
157 DSJ Dec Ness 10-6 Iowa
165 Moore Dec Zilverberg 13-6 Iowa
174 Storley Dec Evans 13-9 Iowa
184 Steinhaus Dec Lofthouse 13-12 Iowa
197 Schiller Dec Burak 15-13 Minn
Hwt Nelson Dec Telford 18-13 Minn

I realize that Minnesota's struggling lately, but this is how I see it coming down with this line-up. If C Dardanes doesn't wrestle, then 16-15 Iowa.

Agree with everything but I think the gophers will give up a major at either 157 or 165 with how both of these wrestlers have been performing lately, Ness seems to either win big or lose big

I think we see the "real" Ness against DSJ. When Ness faced Dieringer he wrestled back-to-basics and was very tough to score on. He pins so many lesser wrestlers with his funk that it sometimes gets him trouble, but when it's show time (NCAA'S, big matches) he gets serious.
"He beat nobodies..Thorn at 133 won't be great, R12 or worse imo...
    I just don't see it...David Thorn is not elite. I don't think he'll place"

I think Iowa has more guaranteed wins but I would pick all the close matches to go Minnesota's way. Iowa beats them in a tournament but loses this dual

I think weve been seeing the "real" Ness all year long.

I'm giving Evans the win. And I'm just a hair away from giving Ramos a pin. I think he has a good chance of catching Thorn in a bad spot.

Or, Thorn catching Ramos. It could work either way!

Ramos and Thorn will be relatively close.

    It always has been, historically.

Ness has been getting exposed more and more here recently. He made the finals in a horrible 149 bracket and I think he got put on a pedestal he didn't really belong on. He's good, and has a good shot at placing again, but he could not place. People are figuring out how to attack his legs where he can't hit his ball-kick elevator thing.

    Gilman
    Ramos
    Dardanes
    Dardanes
    DSJ
    Moore
    Storley
    Steinhaus
    Schiller
    Nelson

Let's see if the Dardanes wrestle. If Chris doesn't, that's huge for Iowa. I think Iowa has a CHANCE at Bonus at 25 and potentially 65 if Zilverberg doesn't wrestle. Gilman needs to make sure he doesn't ride for so dang long.
