Thread: Reiter vs. Ruggirello All Star

Default Reiter vs. Ruggirello All Star

A third replacement has been named for the 42nd annual NWCA All-Star Classic presented by the United States Marine Corps and it’s Hofstra 133-pounder Lou Rugirello.

Rugirello moved up to #4 in the InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Individual Rankings this week after pinning Tyler McCormick of Missouri, who was previously ranked second.

McCormick was replaced earlier this week by Minnesota’s Mack Reiter, while Rugirello replaces #1 Coleman Scott of Oklahoma State. The Cowboys staff informed the NWCA on Thursday of an injury to Scott sustained at the Central Missouri Open this past weekend.

Rugirello is now one of two Hofstra wrestlers in the event and the third Pride representative. Coach Tom Shifflet was selected as an honorary coach for the event.

The event will kick off at 6 p.m. Pacific time from the University of Oregon’s McArthur Court. LiveSportsVideo will offer a pay-per-view live broadcast of the event. More information on the broadcast can be found here:

If Reiter wins, it shows us that the Mack of the past, the one that took 4th twice at the NCAA's is back! Remember that Ruggirello pinned McCormick, the guy that kept Reiter from his 3rd AA award last year. The whole, A beat B so if C beats B he can be A is irrelevant, I know. However, still, if Reiter beats Rugirello, that is saying a lot.

If Rugirello wins, it is just adding to the story that he's for real and his win over McCormick was no fluke. A win over Reiter would be what could propel this guy into having an awesome junior season.

My money, if I had any, is on Reiter. I think he's hungrier than ever and out to destroy anyone who stands in his way. However, I don't blindly look past what Ruggirello is capable of.

Bummer on Coleman. Still haven't heard anything on how bad the injury is. Hope he heals up for the season.

AWESOME. It sucks that Coleman is injured, but I'm really excited to see this match up. It'll be really interesting to see how long this stays on the feet, both guys I would assume eventually want to take it to the mat and pin the other guy with their signature move.
