I can't speak with the knowledge I'd like to about these guys from about 2005 and back..So I don't really want to pipe in ignorantly though this is really cool.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

Don't let that stop you now.
"He beat nobodies..Thorn at 133 won't be great, R12 or worse imo...
    I just don't see it...David Thorn is not elite. I don't think he'll place"

    1999, 2006, 2009...I'll break down the last match-up.

    2013 vs 2011

    125-Jessee Delgado(2013) vs Anthony Robles(2011)
    - I don't see many 125 champs beating Robles in 2011...Delgado isn't one of them.

    133-Logan Stieber(2013) vs Jordan Oliver(2011)
    - Soph Stieber vs Soph Oliver...interesting. I think Oliver wins 9 out of 10...the 1 just so "happened" against Stieber in 2012.

    141-Kendrick Maple(2013) vs Kellen Russell(2011)
    - I love Maple and think he becomes a 2X champ...However, Russell's take-down defense is too good for Maple.

    149-Jordan Oliver(2013) vs Kyle Dake(2011)
    - Not betting against Dake...even a Soph Dake vs a Senior Oliver. Hard match to predict.

    157-Derek St. John(2013) vs Bubba Jenkins(2011)
    - Maybe a surprise, but I'm taking DSJ. I think Jenkins had a psychological edge on DT...not so much on a healthy DSJ...or I'm still in denial.

165-Kyle Dake(2013) vs Jordan Burroughs(2011)- I said I wasn't betting against Dake, even against the man himself...I don't think anyone could have stopped Dake from getting his 4th title.

    174-Chris Perry(2013) vs Jon Reader(2011)
    - Close match, but I'm taking Reader....no real explanation.

    184-Ed Ruth(2013) vs Quintin Wright(2011)
    - Awesome run for QW in 2011, but if he met a 2013 Ruth in the finals...he would have lost by 5+ points.

    197-Quintin Wright(2013) vs Dustin Kilgore(2011)
    - QW soundly beat a better 2013 Kilgore....Foster was better and choked.

    285-Tony Nelson(2013) vs Zach Rey(2011)
    - Beat an older Rey in 2012...thats all I got.

5 to 5...but since Burroughs is the man and I have DSJ doubts, I'll take 2011.

    ABSTAIN

    2004 vs 2006
    125-Jason Powell(2004) vs Joe Doboque(2006)
    133-Zach Roberson(2004) vs Matt Valenti(2006)
    141-Cliff Moore(2004) vs Nate Gallick(2006)

    285-Tommy Rowlands(2004) vs Cole Konrad(2006)

    5-5 split

    2008 vs 2009

    125-Angel Escobedo(2008) vs Troy Nickerson(2009)
Tough one because both struggled so much with injuries, but at the end of the day, Nickerson beat Esco most of the times they met, including their run in at the 2009 NCAA tournament and I believe in 2007 as well. In 2010 Esco beat nickerson for 3rd after both got dropped into the consis. I still like Tnick in a very low scoring one
    133-Coleman Scott(2008) vs Frank Gomez(2009)
A great matchup and one that could easily go either way. Gomez was seeded 1st the year coleman won (and coleman was #3). I do favor Scott just ever so slighty, if for no reason other then he made the finals twice and won in one of the most dominating performances ever over Slaton

    141-J Jaggers(2008) vs J Jaggers(2009)
Jaggers was one of those guys who wrestled his best when the lights were on. While it was impressive for him to storm through the ncaa tournament after having a very very medicore regular season, I think his performance was more consistent in 2008. He also one in one of the grittiest finals matches ever, despite having his leg snapped in two

    149-Brent Metcalf(2008) vs Darrion Caldwell(2009)
I think this came up in the previous round, but I have to give the win to Caldwell, especially over 2008 Metcalf. I don't think DC would win a best of ten series, heck he might not even have won a best of 3, but he DESTROYED Metcalf on the night when it counted most.

    157-Jordan Leen(2008) vs Jordan Burroughs(2009)
Buroughs beat Leen in a close match early in the season in 2009 and ended up running the table, beating two returning champs and a returning finalist to win his first title.

    165-Mark Perry(2008) vs Jarrod King(2009)
Not close, King is one of the cinderella stories of wrestling, but he was never on Perrys level.

    174-Keith Gavin(2008) vs Steve Luke(2009)
I think this is a very, very close match, and I could see it going the other way. Luke make legitimate improvements in 2009 and I believe wrestled the best he ever had, with real offense. THat being said, Gavin was a two time finalist, and I'm going to give him the edge because he beat Luke in the 2008 finals.

    184-Mike Pullico(2008) vs Jake Herbert(2009)
2009 Herbert beat 2009 Pucillo in the finals, so I dont see a reason this would be close.

    197-Phil Davis(2008) vs Jake Varner(2009)
As frustrating as his style was at times, Varner truly is one of the all time greats at this weight class. Davis was dominant his senior year, but I dont think he would have had what it took to displace the immovable object.

    285-Dustin Fox(2008) vs Mark Ellis(2009)
Fox wasn't my favorite but I'd favor him over Ellis.
    5-5 Split

    2013 vs 2011
    125-Jessee Delgado(2013) vs Anthony Robles(2011)
Delgado might end up going down as an all time great, but so will McD, and he lost to Robles and it wasn't even close. I truly believe that 2011 Robles might be the best 125 pounder ever to wrestle. His style was just so incredibly hard to adapt to. He improved dramatically every single year.

    133-Logan Stieber(2013) vs Jordan Oliver(2011)
2012 Stieber won over 2012 Oliver (despite it being very controversial and despite the fact I think Oliver was better that year). So I have to give his older incarnation the edge over a younger Oliver.

    141-Kendrick Maple(2013) vs Kellen Russell(2011)
I think this would truly be a great match, but I have to give Russell a slight edge.

    149-Jordan Oliver(2013) vs Kyle Dake(2011)
Probably one of the most compelling matchups of any of these. Its really hard for me to pick either way, but I guess I'll give it to Dake

    157-Derek St. John(2013) vs Bubba Jenkins(2011)
I never thought that highly of Bubba despite his two strong NCAA performances. I think St. John was better and I dont think he gets caught in anything flashy.

    165-Kyle Dake(2013) vs Jordan Burroughs(2011)
If only we could have seen these two Dake finals matchups... As amazing as Dake is, and was monumentous as his career accomplishments have been, Burroughs is arguably the best wrestler in the world right now at any weight, and I dont know if there is a wrestler in history I would pick over his 2011 version at 165.

    174-Chris Perry(2013) vs Jon Reader(2011)
Perry is good but very boring and offensively limited. Reader was on a mission in 2011 and I think he wins this comfortably.
    184-Ed Ruth(2013) vs Quintin Wright(2011)
Baseless gossip has said that Ruth and QW were pretty even in the room, and I believe QW won when these two did meet ruths true freshman year. However if you look at the way Ruth treated the weight this year, and the way Q wrestled the year he won, I dont think its even close.

    197-Quintin Wright(2013) vs Dustin Kilgore(2011)
QW beat Kilgore in 2013, so I dont see a problem with him winning in 2011.
    285-Tony Nelson(2013) vs Zach Rey(2011)

Nelson beat Rey in 2012 and appears to only have gotten better. Don't think he'd struggle in 2013

    5-5 Split
    Gold is an idiot.
