    My thoughts on Minny
125-Thorn has alot of talent but it hasn't translated to beating any top tier guys this year. he is going to have his hands full with Waters.
That is an extremely tough draw for him. He is going to have his work cutout for him to AA.

I am a little confused as to how in the world these seedings take place or the logic behind it. Tony Nelson ends up with the 2 seed.... He wins the toughest Conference tourney and wrestles by far week in and week out the toughest guys in the country and has 1 loss. The reason i can understand the logic is that it appears a different logic was used to seed the 174 pound bracket......Nelson lost to the guy who was seeded higher than him while Storely who was seeded 6th????? hasn't lost head to head against Brown,Evans, or Kokesh this year? Also those guys all have just as many or more losses on the year than Storley. Storely didn't lose a regular season conference match while all the guys seeded ahead of him at NCAA's did? Makes one wonder where he would have been seeded if he didn't wrestle the conference tourney? My guess would be alot higher than where he is which begs the question how important is it to wrestle a conference tourney if you are ranked #1? Nelson seeded #1 in the country wins his loaded conference tourney and ends up with the 2 seed @ NCAA's while Storely seeded #1 in the country loses a couple in the Conference tourney and ends up seeded 6th? Wow, that's a head scratcher?

If he didn't wrestle the conference tournament, he doesn't go to NCAA's.

I know he had a bad B1G tourney but I was shocked that Storely only pulled the #6 seed. And with Hammond, and possibly Stauffer to go through to get to Evans he definitely has a tough draw.

I have to agree on Storley--and said so on another board. Prior to the B1G's, Storley had only 1 loss, 7-6 to Perry, which he later avenged with OT fall. He beat Evans twice, Heflin 12-3, Brown, Kokesh, Blanton etc I could see Storley dropping a couple of places after his 7th at the B1G's but not down to 6th. Tough draw for Evans who is the #3 seed is underdog in the quarters! Conversely it gives Perry a much better draw, having Brown, Storley and Evans all in the other half (the guys who should be #2,3,4).

BTW--I think Minnesota got pretty low seeds are I would say that they are probably in the best position to outperform their seeds. The Altons certainly COULD well outperform their seeds. But that is certainly no guarantee at this point.

Bottom half of the 174 bracket looks especially tough. There are some pretty brutal match ups in the quarterfinals, some of which easily could have been finals match-ups in this weight class.

Minnesota did seem to get some bad luck when it came to both seeding and random draws. However, if they can weather that initial storm and get a few upsets, they will be well positioned to challenge for the team title.

I thought I read Hamlin didnt wrestle because he was injured in his conference tourney and he got an at large and got seeded what 2nd in the 184lb bracket?

I'm pretty sure that Hamlin defaulted to 4th place at the EIWA's. Don't know how many automatic qualifiers the EIWA got at 184. If 4th wasn't good enough for an automatic berth, then he would have needed an at large bid. I think he is well deserving of that. BTW--he got the 3rd seed (not 2nd).

I want to say Hamlin actually defaulted all the way to 6th
