Good choices across the board in my opinion.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

    I agree.

I remember thinking to myself that Ed deserved wrestler of the year so was glad to see him get it, Delgado was an obvious choice for OW, I was racking my brain trying to think of who the freshmen this year were I'm fine with Medberry getting it (I initially thought Schiller had been gipped before remembering that he's actually a sophomore) and then I assumed Cael would get Coach of the Year again, but am obviously happy to see J recognized.

I was able to watch this- some pretty fun matches. Delgado looked really good, and McDunough looked really bad. Such a fast shot, but still... McD needs to tie him up more, oe else shoot himself. What was te Delgado-Mega score.

Not a terribly exciting 133 lb natch, but Logan Stieber is really good. If Coleman Scott keeps struggling he`ll probably go to world- and be very competitive there

Loved Ness throwing himself to his own back repeatedly before finally scoring the fall.

Fun 157 lb match- Green turns the wrong way, gets pinned with little time remaining.

Ed Ruth really is a big fish in a small pond; he was really excited to be in an actual competitive match I hope he wrestles in the WTTs this year, very curious to see how he does. He got spanked last year, but from what Iève seen this year his quick clean shots should translate well to fs.

    That's a bit extreme don't you think?

All joking aside, Delgado appears able to get shots off at will, and even when they aren't great shots he can outscramble McD. I can't remember McD outscrambling Delgado even one time over their last two matches.

Stieber looked really good but you can tell that the Brands bros have worked with Ramos on strategy for escaping. That in and of itself is huge and could play into their next match.

    Hahaha Flop that was hilarious!

Yes, Delgado is really fast. Really good. Still, I can't believe McD didn't seem to have a game plan other than to get doubled over and over again, especially after already getting beat in a similar fashion by the same guy. Like you said, some of them weren't even good shot- Delgado had his head down and was stretched out a couple of times- and it still worked. I just don't get it.

Ramon is also really, really good, and could obviously win a rematch. Is he planning to enter the WTT's also?

McD-This is the new reality. He's not as good as Delgado. He'll probably have him in the semis and he'll lose and it will be sad. That's who he is now.

Ramos-Narrowed the gap against a world class wrestler. Beat 2 AA's on the way to the finals.

Ballweg-Great to make the finals, beat someone who majored him 2 weeks ago.

DSJ-Lost to someone he beat before, but a very dangerous wrestler. He can't get ridden like that. Pinned Alton and got 3rd. Not a BAD tournament.

Moore-Another fine tournament, shouldn't have lost to Yohn, but that's what happens when you wrestle the same guy that many times.

Evans-It was close with Brown the last time, and he somehow pulled it out. He beat Blanton worse than he did last time, and Brown caught him after 1 mistake. Brown is good, no shame in that loss.

Ethen-Awesome tournament. Could not have done better.

Burak-Great tournament. Sucks to lose to Gonzalaz, but he almost beat him the 2nd time and almost had Schiller. He's right there and very well could AA this year.

Bobby-Fine tournament. Right there with Nelson. Dominated everyone else.

This team improved from Nat. Duals to here, and they'll improve again between now and NCAA's. This is a dangerous team.
Good objective analysis, Vais. I think that Iowa will not have a great deal of drop-off at NCAA's--meaning that a lot of their top guys won't place much lower (if at all) from their B1G placings--McD, Ramos, DSJ, Evans.

Does anyone know what's happened to McD? I've got to think it's the weight pull-but I hear many Iowa fans say that it's not so. True, Delgado is one tough, dangerous wrestler. But he barely beat Malone in the quarters. Something is there. Of course, you could ask me the same question about A Alton and I have no idea.

JRob definitely deserved to be recognized. The way he got his team ready for the National Duals and beat 2 teams that had beaten them earlier (and pounded OSU!). That definitely deserves recognition. And, I think every Minn wrestler matched or bettered their seed except for N Dardanes & Storley. BTW--what happened to Storley? Is there any inside word? Was he sick, injured or just have a bad tournament? I suspect we'll see a different Storley at the NCAA's.

Everything I'm hearing is that he was sick the whole week prior to the tourny and may have had lingering illness during competition. He's always had a tremendous gas tank and it was pretty apparent that his lung capacity was compromised by something. Hoping he can recover in 1.5 weeks. Regardless of where his seed ends up, he would have to be considered a favorite alongside Brown and Perry. Not sold on Evans getting it done with his history and style of wrestling.
