Default University of Louisville looking into adding wrestling program

With their move into the ACC the U of L AD has been looking into adding an ACC sport that the school doesn't currently have. The two front runners are Wrestling and Men's Lacrosse. Wrestling is getting a lot more vocal support since nobody in Kentucky cares about lacrosse. A newspaper took a poll and 2/3 of responders stated they wanted a wrestling team. Most of Kentucky's top talent (and the defending state champs, St. Xavier) are grouped around Louisville. John Fahy who is going to star for Illinois next year is from that area

That's great news. Have been VERY few new Div 1 programs in the past decade!

I can not think of the last BCS school to add wrestling. Some one let me know.
Also if the NWCA and the NCAA cared about wrestling they would use the NCAA tourney to get wrestling at Louisville. Something like start a program and Louisville gets the NCAA wrestling tourney in 5 years. Same thing MLB and the NFL does with cities that build new stadiums. NFL puts the super bowl there and MLB puts the all-star game there.

Not counting SIUE moving up I think it was Campbell University

I'm pretty sure the last D-1 school to add the sport was Liberty. Of course, we all know how that worked out.

The last BCS school? God, I'm stumped.

Wasn't Utah Valley State the last team to add a program?

This would really be fantastic, adding another D1 program to a state and growing the ever-tougher ACC. Win win all around for the sport, be sure and post any and all coverage about this so the wrestling community can help spread the word.

That would be outstanding, for the school, for the ACC, and obviously for wrestling in general.

Would be cool to start to theorize (if it happens) about who "the guy" to start the program would be.
