I enjoyed the video Flo posted of him a few days ago, except I'm not sure I need to see the head coach of any program in spandex shorts.

On a different subject, but one that this article makes me think is that we need to do is get Russia, Iran, and other wrestling powers to add folkstyle. The addition of more types will expand the involvement and make wrestling stronger. I know other countries have po-poo'd folkstyle before, but now that we are all in a sinking ship fighting for survival they may want to reconsider their positions.
I'm interested in this idea. I don't mean to be ethnocentric, but the US does carry some weight in the competition and economics of wrestling. Maybe free could become a little more like folk? Maybe they could grow toward each other a bit?

I like freestyle. I actually think that, in it's old form, it was pretty exciting. I don't like the "new" rules. I would like to see us wrestle free in the US but I think if we changed we would probably loose alot of participants and fans as many would be unwilling to learn the new format.

I like Rob Koll. I didn't even know that he was disliked by the broad majority of wrestling fans.

Other than Iowa fans who still don't like him for ripping them for not coming to National Duals, I wasn't aware of anyone who really disliked Koll.

Even though I wrestled with Rob's older brother in HS, I don't know Rob Koll personally. The most I know of him is watching some of his interviews. He does give a good interview IMO.

Agree. It used to be a lot more entertaining to watch before the best 2 out of 3 period format, back when you could watch Americans break Russians in the 3rd period. The current rules are fancy and take a good deal of the conditioning and toughness factors out of the matches.

That said, I also agree that there would be catastrophic backlash if we all of a sudden decided to switch to freestyle, but I don't think that is even possible. I think the vast majority of folk style wrestlers would roll their eyes/shrug their shoulders and then keep doing what they are doing.

If you would have said that last year I might agree with you. But I think many more joined the bandwagon after he tried to pull the rug out from under the NCAA's this last year by not giving coaches ample chance to have discussion about how the team champion is determined. I had no problem with him until last year and his actions the last couple of years where wrestling as a whole is concerned have been questionable. He's not acting the way the leader of the NWCA should be, imho.

I wouldnt say all Iowa fans ripped him for it, but rightfully so, Koll singled Iowa out while PSU never comes to National Duals. They have good reason and we all know that Cael doesnt like the format. So, it was a bit ridiculous that Iowa was singled out. Trying to pull the wool over the eyes of all the coaches and forcing a vote like he did though last year was crazy, and he will get a lot of criticism for that, and rightfully so.

Also, I never noticed your sig line, but that is great!! Not that I think that it will happen, but if anybody knows Herkey he may not ever reappear and sink to the bottom if that ever happens. Haha.
