Are you the same GoldenGopher that devised the "secret 165 pounder" scam that was propogated on TheMat a year and a half ago mostly by me?

Not me. I just found this and the other wrestling forums this year. I'm just getting more into wrestling in the past few years. Plus one of the Gophers (Safratowich) is from my home town.

Got you, glad to have you either way.

We ran the "secret 165" scam soon after Iowa hired Brands. That caused an outbreak over on TheMat of new Iowa fans talking about how they were a shoo in to win NCAA's the following year.

So a poster named GoldenGopher posted that he had gotten some info about a 165 transfer for the Gophers. He sat on it for a little bit, and sent the "scoop" to me, and a few others.

The "scoop" obviously was bull, we messed around with it for a little while, and then it died down for like two days. Then a thread got started asking me for information about it, I sent it, and posted in the thread about it. Over the next week I got requests from like 60-70 people for it.

We broke it on the board when GoldenGopher posted a link to the secret recruits picture, it was to the picture of a midget wrestler.

Incidentally those 60-70 people I emailed were pivotal in helping get this board started 18 months ago.

That's awesome. Would have loved to be involved in that one. And people say the wrestling community doesn't have humor.
