Easier said than done obviously, the chaps on that team would bloody well be pretty bad-assed.
30 is a pretty huge lead in tournament format. MD is worth 1 point, TF5 is worth 1.5, and pin is worth 2.

Iowa had 2 guys miss AA, Ersland and Hand. Both guys were unseeded it, but made it in the R12.

Looks like a pretty insurmountable lead to me.

Ah, stupid a$$ me using dual meet scoring in my thinking. Yeah, making up 30 pts would be basically impossible. Only two guys missing AA and still getting to R12 is pretty much insane; if that team can't beat the overall field then it can't be done.

I'm sure this is nowhere near is hard as at the national level, and has probably happened, but what about at the conference tournament? I remember a few years ago UW-Lacrosse had 9 finalists, and like 7 champions at the WIAC tournament. I'm sure they beat the field. Has anybody ever done that at say the Big Ten or Big Twelve Tournament?

Anyone have the dual results for that 1997 dual between Iowa and OSU? That would be interesting to see, especially in light of that Iowa team setting the all-time NCAA points record!

As dominant as the Iowa and Okla State teams were, the 2001 Minnesota team was almost equally as impressive with 10AAs and nobody in the finals

That Iowa team was a big underdog to OSU going into nationals but Gable was the master motivator and got them to perform out of their minds.

That team was very impressive as well, but with nobody in the finals they didnt sniff the all time points record. Still, to get 10 AAs is unreal. The field definitely beat the crap out of that 2001 MN team.

Wasn't that Gable's last year coaching?
