Well technically the matches aren't recognized by the NCAA if they do not have riding time and or are less than 7 minutes.

Champions are made while no one is watching.
Rankings don't move much until at least December when most of the opens are over, so dart can have that one. But to state they don't count for seeding is a laugh.
Attend a seeding meeting sometime....
Trusty,
The NCAA made a rule change this year about events that are 2-2-2 and no RT. Matches that do NOT have riding time AND are not at least six minutes long are not official bouts. 2-2-2 (W/RT) official ... 2-2-2 (w/o RT) not official.
Several opens that were initially 2-2-2 sans riding time made changes to go with RT. Kaufman-Brand (I believe) has made the change to include RT so the matches are official, along with Mat Town, Penn State and Buffalo. I'm sure NDSU will follow suit and the one I haven't heard yet about is East Stroudsburg.
I know fanforlife has been to countless college seeding meetings -- even run a couple of them -- however, the NCAA enacted this rule this year. So last year, yes, Gardner's win over Ness was a factor. If that type of situation duplicates itself this year -- not only will it not be counted, it won't even be listed on their official season record form.
So anything that's 2-2-2 without riding time = no dice. NWCA/InterMat rankings do not factor in unofficial/exhibition bouts, which is one reason the All-Star Classic does not factor in to those rankings.
You were correct until April. Not something that's been widely advertised, but the tournament directors now know it.
If EMU Open was 2-2-2 and no Riding Time, Stolpinski's loss wouldn't "count."
Although, I've heard more than a few folks tell me (eye-witnesses) that the fall was defensive, quick and questionable. Not to take anything away from the Lindenwood kid, but that's the vibe I've gotten.
The EMU Open added riding time this year. I was curious to why they added it this year, now I guess I know.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!
Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.
Confirmed...no Stanford at Bison this year.
A little info for some that may not know the history of the Bison Open.
This is the 38th year of the event, and at one time was the premier early season tournament in the country with close to 30 teams attending.
It's also the tournament where the Gophers discovered an unkown HWT. from Bismarck State JR College named Brock Lesnar. After they saw what he did to the AA Benjamin in the finals, they more or less signed him on the spot, and the rest is history.
if it only happened once every 20 years it makes it worth going to that open for the U. Think of the exposure Lesnar brought to the Gophers through the course of his NCAA wrestling, Professional Wrestling, Professional Football, and now his MMA career... almost every article written eventually eludes to the fact he was a national champ for the Goofs.
