Had Hamlin been healthy he would have beaten Ruth !! Thumb so heavily taped he couldn't finish a few deep shots . 11-9 is not the score Ruth enthusiasts (including me ) were guessing . Hamlin did what he always does -hangs around and gives himself a chance to win the match .
You know, I think I would rather be a man than a god . We don't need anyone to believe in us. We just keep going anyhow. It's what we do.

I'm sure blue and whitle illustrated will try and find a way to convince themselves that Penn State is even better than previously thought. This match showed me what I already knew about Dylan Alton (no offense and could lose matches here and there because of it) and let me know that things aren't going to be quite as easy up a weight for Ruth and Wright. First meet and not a big deal but PSU isn't a slam dunk. Don't ask me about Tomas Lira or Grant Gambrall

Russ, were you watching? I realize it is impossible to predict, but I have to disagree based on what I saw. Ruth was in control and having his way for about the first two periods. When he decided he was going to wrestle for fun, Hamlin started scoring. When Ruth decided the match was getting too close, Ruth stopped Hamlin from scoring.

Hamlin is one of my personal favorites and is a really good wrestler, but he wasn't just a taped thumb away in this one.

I did not see the match but this seems to be the consensus.

I didn't see the match either, but read comments by a number of people who did watch it, as well as Cael's comments afterwards. Ruth got the first 4 TD's and was up 9-3 mid-way through the second period. According to Cael he got a little sloppy and gave up 2 TD's. Some observors thought Ruth looked a bit gassed in the 3rd period. Whatever, Hamlin is one tough wrestler and if he stayed 11-9 against Ruth with has hand/thumb heavily taped--that's a good performance!

Napoli just won 6-0 over #7 Frank Hickman

I'm feeling mighty good about my 15th round pick
    Gold is an idiot.
