Michigan wrestler down on the mat and getting looked at by trainers. he seems to be OK.

    Attendance 1756

    Meeks is up against Huntley.

Huntley with a TD and Meeks escapes. Meeks with a shot on the edge but no points. Period ends 2-1 Huntley

Huntley starts the second on bottom. Huntley with an escape and the period ends 3-1 Huntley

Meeks starts the third down, he gets an escape, and now needs to get a TD as he trails by 1. Huntley with a shot and Meeks counters for a takedown. Huntley has turned into Meeks and has a leg. Meeks flatens hi out again and is working on top. :30 left. They're on the edge and time expires with Meeks up by 1, make that 2 with the RT 5-1. Team score: 21-15 with Hanke vs Doser.

Beavers need a fall here from Hanke
    .
He gets a quick TD. Hanke's upper body is not natural. Doser with an escape. Hanke with a TD on the edge. Doser escapes and Hanke with a nice low level single that he cuts off to a double for two. Doser out again and it's 6-3 with a minute left in the first, and yes this is the HWT match. Hanke with another shot attempt and then another single that he finishes with a double, and another escape Doser 8-4.

Hanke has choice and takes down. Hanke gets an escape, Doser warned for stalling. Doser with a nice shot attempt, he gest to the leg but can't finish. Hanke is now in and has Doser on his knees. Stalemate and we're back to the center.

Hanke wins 13-8 and Michigan wins 21-18. Mangrum killed s.

Apland's out until likely the Duke EMU tri-meet Dec 8th. He *may* be ready for the Cliff Keen tournament, but coaches may be reluctant work him back when he may have to go several times in a day.

Jackson's win over Mangrum is obviously huge. He was a raw prospect out of HS, but with excellent lungs and athleticism and has flourished thus far under Donny and Bormet. He'll get a lot of attention after this and his huge comeback win against Shaffer of Pitt last Sunday. Pretty crazy that with all the attention on the other 3 freshman in Michigan's lineup, Jackson has outshined them all and is the only one still undefeated. Dutton's gonna have his work cut out getting back in the lineup.

LoSt I was called away during the Hanke match to fulfill some parental duties. I was not happy about it since I had made plans to be in Gill for the evening until my wife "urged" me to stay home.

Shamrock did you watch the match? I'm a huge OS fan so my opinion is not exactly neutral, that is why I'd like to get yours as well if you saw the match, but from what I saw it wasn't really a case of Jackson out wrestling Mangrum, as much as it was Mangrum just being completely out of gas by the middle of the 2nd period if not sooner. I think that either he's having a hard time with the cut this early in the year or for whatever reason he just isn't in shape yet. To me Mangrum did NOT look like what we are used to seeing and nothing like the Mangrum of last year that took Boris into OT in a very exciting match.

Snack, unfortunately I got home to catch the feed at the end of 149, so I missed 141.

I don't doubt Mangrum ran out of gas. I read more than one person's account to the same effect, so I'll go by that. And I really can't say anything about the bout myself having not seen it. I've seen enough of Mangrum over his career thus far to say he is an outstanding competitor and never seemed to have an issue with conditioning.

I did see Jackson against Shaffer in the Pitt dual however. Very active motor for all seven minutes. He wore Shaffer out in the end for an improbable comeback. He does have the capability to wear an opponent out, and sometimes that can make the difference.
