Thread: Dake v Molinaro, because I was bored

Hindsight is always 20/20, and it's easy to look now and say, "What an IDIOT for taking down," but most people would have taken down, coaches would have coached him to take down, and I would have taken down myself. You wouldn't expect Dake to keep riding, just for the sake of riding.

Why was Molinaro's choice even more practical that what I just said? Because the only other match that those two wrestled before Molinaro DID escape from Dake in the down position, quite easily, at that.

As I said, hindsight is 20/20.

Ban--I'd have to refresh my memory to be sure, but the only other time they wrestled, I think that Dake beat Tank at the Scuffle by either 1-0 or 2-0. I don't think he escaped.

Well, this is all an interesting story. Everything that I said in my first paragraph is what I've said from day one, and I still stick to it even more so today.

Obviously, a BIG debate ensued on either this forum or the mat.com where all the "20/20 ers" were calling me nuts, etc, and someone revealed a video of this earier match that I refer-which I had never seen before-that showed the escape that I was talking about. Maybe someone on here has it, or I can post a message on the other board asking the person to repost it.

It definitely happened in one other match that they wrestled.

I KNOW that I watched the video of Molinaro escaping from Dake earlier, but I can't seem to find it.

Possibly I was thinking about the second to the last post in this thread, which was even a more extreme circumstance, and where most would have called Grey nuts for choosing down.

I'll still stand behind my argument, and I'll still stand behind that I saw the video of an earlier match between the two.

IIRC, Cael and coaches wanted him to take neutral in the finals but Molinaro took down anyway.

Forget it: I found the post. SHP said it about Dake/Molinaro at the Southern Scuffle.

THAT is what I remember, and may play into why Molinaro didn't choose neutral as a viable option.

You must drink an awful lot of douce.

Haha maybe I do, but after choosing bottom against Dake after already giving up over two minutes of riding time, I think it's fair. But Molinaro will probably win his title this year, so it's all in good fun.
Oh, please. Molinaro chose neutral against Dake at the Southern Scuffle, and lost because of it...what would you have chosen in his shoes, top?

Ill save you some time. The match ends 1-0 Dake. Their only other college meeting. He never got away, ever.

Molinaro's only chance was from neutral. Choosing down was a ridiculous decision at the time, and people knew it then, as it happened.
