Thread: Which D1 Team will graduate the most talent this year?

Default Which D1 Team will graduate the most talent this year?

    I gotta say the Gophers:

    133 Reiter
    141 Rivera
    157 CP Schlatter
    174 Dretsch
    184 Kish...

Ouch...I almost forgot, the irrespressible Justin Bronson.

As much as I like the thought of the Gophers coming back the next year with some young talent, I think they will definitely take a step back for sure. Look out for us again in 2009-2012 though.

    125 Sanders/Ness
    133 Ness/Marcicki
    141 Thorn/Mellmer
    149 Dustin Schlatter
    157 Safratowich/Matousek
    165 Glasser/Kolbow
    174 Sitch/Young/Line
    184 Yohn/McPhail
    197 Eidensheink
    Hwt Berhow/Nord

Thats three certain AA's and most likely five barring injury.

I would like to see JRob and Marty slide some of these younger wrestlers into some duals this year if we feel like we have a decided advantage to make sure these young guys get some mat time.

Certainly try to spell Rivera with Mellmer and Thorn and let Thorn cover for Reiter as well. If you aren't going to do that then give Thorn his redshirt so he can grow in to 141 for next year. He's tiny.
Dretsch would do fine with 25-30 matches so that Sitch can get some bouts and I don't think you would hear Kish complain if he could get some downtown just before Big Tens and give McPhail some of those matches.

I'm pretty sure Thorn will red-shirt. I really do think Kish will mind if they give McPhail some matches...this is his last year and burn out has never really been a problem for Roger. I do agree that Manny might have had a touch of burn out but I think his knee injury could have also had something to do with it.

That injury absolutely killed Manny last year, I don't think burn out had anything to do with it. I mean he was 35-0 with no signs of slowing down, then hurt the knee against Ruschell and wasn't the same.

Gophers easily will graduate the most talent. If Herbert was not redshirting NW might be 2nd. Calling Dretsch a likely AA is a bit of a stretch.

Dretsch was a likely aa last year and with some of the top guys graduating he's even more likely this year.

he is as likely as usual which i guess isn't very likely but still likely...

i like the fact that he has seen all these guys in the top eight quite a few times which means in essence they can all beat each other...he has ALOT of mat experience since he has started since he was a freshman and really never lost his spot...

i also like the fact that sitch is going to be pushing him for his spot so i hope that j rob and marty keep a fire under his A$$...jensens and i are going to drink a brewski every time dretsch takes a shot this year...

    prepare for a DRY winter.
