I would bet the under on this match unless the wrestlers aren't really taking it that seriously. DC

The question for hawkeyes fans is does this hurt Mike Evans more than it helps DSJ? I'd say it's a wash. It's not that Evans was a title contender(in the mind of rational fans that is ) but I do think he's going to have a nice year and end up with a decent podium finish: 5 or better. DT, Dake and Caldwell make his ceiling just that much lower.
To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

Vais--I think it potentially helps Iowa more than hurts. If DSJ goes from #2 to #1, that gives more points than Evans would lose in dropping one at a lower placing.

that's pretty badass of dake. but really, why wouldn't he compete at 165 if he was able to in freestyle and beat both taylor and caldwell? during last year's university nationals, he lost to howe, but it's not like he was dominated.

In head to head freestyle results, all three are pretty close. Howe beat Dake on a 3rd period clinch and Caldwell on double clinches (OTT's). Dake beat Caldwell in 3-period match with a controversial scramble ending (University Nationals?). Howe has consistently finished higher than the other two in the standings, though.

Pretty sure Dake was Jordan Burrough's practice parner for the Olympics. I have no idea how they did head-to-head but that's got to have made his wrestling better.

I really don't think Caldwell is that far above Evans

I don't either, but Evans has the capability to surprise me on the upside and the downside quite frequently.
