Thread: Mizzou Northern Iowa ODU to the MAC!

I have some mixed feelings as well.

I like that UNI will get far more slots to be able to take wrestlers to the NCAA's in the MAC (the WWC is downright brutal and unfair, in my view), I mixed about them adding a FAR tougher conference to compete in, and I REALLY don't like what it will do to the WWC. For up and coming programs like Wyoming has been and NDSU is heading toward, it's a tough blow for them.

I guess I still have too much loyalty to the WWC and its teams.
    UNI Panthers...Because it's just right.

Old Dominion leaving drops the CAA to 6 teams, Boston just joined the Patriot League and so could be departing for the EIWA (where the rest of the Patriot League wrestles) soon which would drop the CAA to 5 teams and cost them their automatic qualifier status.
There's no such thing as a pretty good aligator wrestler.

Ban--can you help me to understand that? My understanding is, that apart from the automatic qualifcation of a conference champ, all the rest of the # of qualifiers/weight are based on the national ranking criteria, isn't it? So, whether the conference has 6 or 10 teams, the # of qualifers is based on the rankings/criteria of the wrestlers at that weight in that conference, according to my understanding. I don't see how it would necessarily affect UNI's # of qualifiers. Help me out.

    CMU vs. UNI-
    125-Roth
    133-Sentes/Colon-great match up.Sentes ??
141-UNI-a lot depends on wolf colon and if they stay at 141 and 133 respectively ...
    149-Corby
157-bonin -Smith is gonna be tough really soon.
    165-Ottinger ( an underrated kid.)
    174-Kelllinher
    184-Bennet/Loder great match up-Bennet ??
    197-??
    HWT -Doughboy
I chose this simulated match as I feel CMU is the strongest team in the MAC this season .

I had the same thought. EIWA is still tougher, in my mind.

Russ I think you'll be suprised by UNI. This year they are very young but after a year of experience I think they will be very good. Not Iowa/OSU good but good nonetheless. Here is the lineup I think they will have by the time Midlands rolls around.

    125 Joe Colon
    133 Levi Wolfensperger
    141 Lazor/Reiter/Jauch
    149 Tanner Hiatt
    157 David Bonin
    165 Jensen/Banach
    174 Cody Caldwell
    184 Ryan Loder
    197 Cabell/Kettman
    285 Beale/Krumwiede

    Next years
    125 Dylan Peters RFr
    133 Joe Colon RSr
    141 Levi Wolfensperger RJr
    149 Hiatt/Reiter/Witte/Lazor
    157 Hiatt/Witte/Jensen
    165 Cooper Moore RFr
    174 Cody Caldwell RSo
    184 Ryan Loder RSr
    197 Cabell/Bartell
    285 Cody Krumwiede RSo

As a MAC fan I'm stoked but this really hurts the WWC - Wyoming is going to run away with it every year it lasts.

Maybe this will force the WWC and the B12 to join forces.
