I noticed they had a boatload of 141/149 recruits-I just didn't see a freshman knocking off Pearsall.

From all I'm hearing (and what makes sense to me) is that Gulibon will RS this year. I hope he does. I see Martelotti at 133 this year. He didn't have a good season last year, but he has a lot more potential than what he showed last year. I'm not saying AA, but could be a R12. When Cael was interviewed about possible guys at weights he listed 4 guys at 133, but Frey wasn't cited at 141. I'm sure it must have been an oversight. It will be interesting to see who wins between Frey and Pearsall. I think Frey has a higher ceiling. Hwt will be interesting as well. I think Lawson eventually takes over, but we'll see. The other 7 weights are pretty well set, barring injury.

Gotta figure Cael courted Lawson for a reason, right?

Gingrich has shown a lot of improvement, but I think that Lawson has the higher ceiling. Some are speculating that with getting Lawson they might not pursue Black as much. Don't know if that's true or simple speculation.

It looks like PSU will have 3 holes (133,141 and HWT), and 2 question marks (174,149...we know they're good but how good remains to be seen). I see them as solid favorites but other teams will def push them.

If Andrew Alton and Matt Brown are question marks, then there are lots of question marks for other teams.

1stplace--It depends on how you define holes. In the past PSU had guys with signficantly losing records at a few weights. I don't see that happening this year. I think all 3 of those weights will likely have winning records. If you mean holes in that they're not strong candidates pre-season for AA, well then I guess I would agree. But I think calling them holes is is overstating it. But I would definitely not see A Alton and Brown as question marks. I'll be surprised if both of the don't AA. The reason I say this is that I think it could be taken to belittle guys that are really quite good and are working hard. I'm sure you didn't mean it that way. I know Herkey looks for 10 Iowa NC's each year. The rest of us have a little more modest expectations.

I think calling Alton a question mark is stretching the definition. I don't think he wins a title, but the kid is a bona fide stud. Brown I think is a definite question mark in terms of AA level. Going through a full season is a different animal than winning a match against true frosh Logan Storley early in the year. He could end up a total stud, but I don't think it's unfair to call a kid in Brown's position a question mark.

Brown beat up a couple of decent 197's during the year . A.Alton is a pinning machine . I'm really interested in seeing him wrestle while actually eating .

    3. Matt Brown (Penn State) Dec Max Huntley 3-1 14-9

although not an asskicking huntley is no joke and Brown went up 2 weight classes and beat him.
