I'm a bit stunned by the news but the need for some bigger bodies must have been at least some of the motivation. I like MZ but if Tom thinks that Morningstar is the guy I'll take a wait and see approach. It would be really nice to get Danimal back in the room!

Does this mean that the Hawks will win most of the matches by the score of 3-2?

I like the Morningstar hire. Although I'm sorry to see Zadick get a demotion or let go I think Ryan will be better in the long run. Ryan brought two good recruits from Iowa City to Wisconsin this last year and will be a great partner to our middle weights. We already have two brands in the corner we don't really need another light weight. Ryan will be able to give some insight to the heavier guys. I think he might be a little easier for todays recruits to relate to than Zadick as well. Thanks to Mike for everything he's done for Iowa wrestling. He is a true Hawkeye and hopefully will take the S&C position.

Unlike most non-Hawkeye fans, I don't dislike Iowa wrestling at all. In fact, I root for them every single time they wrestle anyone who isn't a Buckeye. With that said, I also have to say that I liked Morningstar when he wrestled. He didn't score a lot, but I was on the edge of my seat every time he wrestled. He also seems like a "good ol' boy" so I have to like that. I'm sure it was a tough decision for Brands to make, but sometimes these decisions work out for all parties. I'll bet Zadick will have no shortage of offers from other schools.

Minnesota sees Iowa's hiring of Ryan Morningstar at Iowa and raises them one Matt Nagel. Can there be negative match scores?

Herk, that borders on heresy. The official party line is that Iowa has excellent middle weight coaching and it is just a pure coincidence that Morn* happens to be a mid/upper weight coach.
